Julie looked deeply into Thomson’s eyes. She asked him about his relationship with Dora, and what they did when they were alone. He gave her a dark look, but she didn’t back down. “I have explained it to you before,” he replied. “I have no desire to revisit the matter.”
Julie nodded. Indeed, Thompson had told her much, and yet she sensed that he was still holding a lot back. She knew that she couldn’t push him too hard though. He was defensive now. If she wasn’t careful, he would either shut down or go on the offensive. “At least tell me what you do when you visit her,” she said, “so that I don’t have to be jealous all of the time…”
