Tyler's POV.
The sound of the birds chirping loudly and the sunlight that shone on my face stirred me up from sleep. I felt oddly satisfied. I pulled myself up from the dirt and looked around me. It looked like a campsite, the bonfire had died down and there was no one in sight.
I looked down at my body, the wounds and bruises had all healed, and even the gunshot had closed up, except for the fact that I was covered in dirt. I looked and felt great. But something wasn't right, a female scent hung over me like a cloak, blocking out my senses and filling me up.
Then, it all came rushing back. The memories of last night. I had not been alone, someone was with me, a beautiful woman with Auburn hair and hazel eyes. For some reason, her features were etched in my mind. I could draw a portrait of her with my eyes closed even though it had only been a night.
She was a virgin! And I had marked her! The realization struck a nerve that I didn't like. I was wounded, oblivious of my actions, and yet she let me take her innocence and mark her. She had carelessly intertwined my life with hers.
I felt Fenris growl and his words were as clear as day, "Mate!" I felt every hair on my skin stand in irritation.
"You have got to be kidding me!" It was bad enough that I had marked a total stranger and now, she is my mate! Things had just gone from bad to worse.
I didn't have to look around to know that she had disappeared. Was this some sort of sick joke? What kind of a woman seduces an injured stranger, gets him to mate and even marks her, and then disappears while he is still asleep?
As much as I hated the situation I was currently stranded in, I knew I had to find her. My clothes were torn and stained but she had left a change of clothes behind. I picked up the clean shirt and wore it. I couldn't change my pants so I would have to make do with the one I had on.
I just had to find my way back to the scene of the crash, since I had not arrived at the summit yesterday, a search party would have been sent out to find me. Going back there only made me realize that I had not seen the face of the person that shot me, but I had more pressing matters at hand.
The woman from last night, the fact that I had marked her would only deepen the connection between us. I could feel her skin against mine, the scent of her body still clung to my body, and the feeling I felt when I was buried deep inside her still lingered in my head.
She had taken advantage of an unstable man. Is that what she saved me for? To take advantage of me? I asked myself as I made my way back to the crash site, guided by the smell of the warrior's blood and retracing my steps from last night.
This woman had taken over my mind, it was like she had pulled out everything and implanted herself in my head. It irked me that she could send me over the edge like that. I had never lost control like that before. I have been with women far more attractive than her, yet I have never lost myself like I did last night.
I would find her and I would make her pay for what she did last night. For forcing her way into my life and walking out of it as if she had not taken something valuable from me. She can't be walking around carelessly bearing my mark boldly, a mark she had extracted deceitfully.
I knew I was close to the crash site when I began to hear noises. It must be the search party they had sent after me, I thought, as I raced out into the open space where the crash had happened. The car was still right there, just as it had been last night, but the bodies of the warriors had been cleared out.
"Alpha Tyler!" I heard Liam's voice from the throng of people who had gathered at the site, trying to clear up the mess. "Thank the goddesses that you are alright." He said as he approached me.
"I would never have forgiven myself for letting you go without me as an escort." I tapped his shoulder gently. Liam is my beta and, like every other beta, his very existence is to serve his Alpha, but yesterday, I had ordered him to ensure that a rogue that had been caught was escorted to prison without any mishaps. That's why he was not with me on my trip to the summit.
"I need you to find someone," I said.
"About the car crash, we are already looking into it. I think it's..." He replied but I cut him off.
"It's not about the crash, it's a woman and you must find her." He looked a bit taken aback but didn't want to question me. He simply nodded.
"Do you have a picture or can you provide a description of this woman? Anything that would make our search for her easier and faster."
"Get paper and a pencil, I will give you a sketch," I said as I followed him to the car parked by the roadside.
I could feel everyone's eyes on my back. They had not been expecting this kind of reaction from me, not after the attempt on my life. They had expected me to be my useful scary self that would stop at nothing to ensure that those behind the attempt on my life were killed, but I really couldn't think of anything else other than finding the woman with the hazel eyes and the lavender scent.
I could write a whole book on her if I had the chance. It felt as if her whole personality and features had been ingrained in my mind and that's what angered me the most, that she would barge into my life and stamp herself into my very existence as if it was nothing, as if she had not just made herself a part of my life, as if she had not just made herself my mate.
Liam took the wheel and I slipped into the seat beside him. Shortly after, we were speeding down the road to Fangoria, home of the Blood Moon pack.
