"Ugh," she groaned softly but her head was killing her. The ache, the pounding-- what happened last night?
She turned her head on her sleep, enjoying the softness of her mattress when she slowly pried her eyes open and froze in shock at the sight before her.
She was staring at a man's chest.
Broad shoulders and bulky chest-- when did Jayden look this big? She almost drolled when she suddenly caught herself.
Jayden didn't sleep home last night... and neither did she. The last thing she remembered was going to a bar to get some drinks and after that, the rest of her memory seemed to be blocked by her headache.
Lauren gulped as a thought flashed in her mind. She touched herself beneath the covers and she shuddered in disbelief when she found she was naked.
Her core throbbed from being rammed in, her n*****s felt sore as well as her whole body. She really took a pounding from... another man.
H-How could she have let that happen-- she was a married woman-- she paused as she suddenly remembered.
Oh! She truly was a married woman, not any more.
She replayed the whole mistress incident in her head and the divorce papers and slowly started to let go of the guilt she was beginning to feel.
She breathed in deeply and started to get up from the bed, holding her head as it still throbbed. She had work to go to and a life to pick up-
"Ah!" Lauren screamed, falling off the bed all of a sudden. Her heart hammered in her chest as the realization of what she'd done crashed into her just from a glimpse of that man.
U-Uncle L-Leo!
No, no, no, this cannot be happening! Lauren Brown Williams, what the f**k have you-
" What are you doing on the floor?" Fine black eyes blinked at her curiously with a small glare in their gaze and soon, he was stretching his hand to her.
She couldn't look away from his eyes as she gulped and placed her hand in his- wow! Such a tight grip. He pulled her up till she climbed back on the bed and Lauren held the sheets to her chest.
His eyes, however, didn't leave her face. It was almost as if he didn't notice she was naked.
The silence was chocking her, heavy and hard on her throat. How could she go and get herself into this kind of mess-
" Don't do that ever again."
"Huh?" She lifted her head up at his harsh tone and met with his glaring gaze. His smoldering look had her dumbfounded for a while -- did he always look this good and how come she never noticed it?
It seemed as if with Jayden out of the way, she was finally noticing other men.
" You put yourself in danger, Lauren. Don't ever drink anything handed to you by men or leave your drink unattended to," he scolded, causing her to snap out of her trance.
Shit, was she drooling?
"You're lucky it was an aphrodisiac. What if it was cocaine and you get arrested? What do you think would happen to our family name, huh?"
He was talking about the William's reputation. Everyone knew the William's was a high ranking family with a good reputation. Even their son's had to be on their best behavior.
"I... I..." She looked down at her hands where she pinched the sheets. " You don't have to worry about that. I'm... I'm not a Williams anymore."
It felt surreal to say and the reality hit her once more.
"That's not enough reason to act recklessly, Lauren," Leo said regardless.
Wait, he knew? She lifted her head in surprise. She knew Jayden was close with his Uncle so did that mean they must've talked about her at some point?
Surely, he must've seen the divorce coming. Was this his way of having a taste of his nephew's--
She frowned with hate in her chest as she realized how foolish she had been. Meeting her here and taking advantage of her was part of their plan, wasn't it?
Cursing out this man wouldn't do any good. Look at him, all poker face and gloomy believing he could get away with just anything with that handsome face.
She grabbed the sheets and turned the other way, setting her foot down as she looked around for her outfit.
She didn't even feel ashamed as she wore every piece of clothing, only annoyance filled her heart.
" Don't worry. I'm not out to sully your precious William family name. Just forget about everything that happened last night," she wore her shoes and grabbed her bag and without sparing him a glance, she stormed out.
She stopped a taxi and got in, relaxing on the seats with a deep sigh.
What sort of crazy night did she have? All her body ached-- was he a beast?
"Where to, ma'am?", the driver asked and she quickly brought out her phone to use in place of a mirror. After making sure she still look presentable, she gave him her work address.
She didn't want to waste prescious time. The quicker she got away from the Williams family, the better for her. They wee simply egotistic and cared nothing more save for their name and reputation.
She arrived at the company in a few minutes and went straight to her boss's office after typing her resignation letter and using the office printer.
She would just drop it and leave. She had nothing to say to him anyways. It used to be sweet that her husband was her boss and she could sneak in any time for a kiss but now, she didn't even want to see his face.
" What are you doing here?" Sophia asked with arrogance in her tone as she rose from her seat. Wife or ex, she couldn't just let anyone barge into her boyfriend's office.
" Are you here to beg?" She folded her arms and arched brow as she leaned on one hip in her overly tight black skirt.
Of course, she just had to be dressed like an office slut. The only thing that pissed Lauren off was that fact that this woman had an uncanny resemblance to her.
" Just forget about it. He doesn't want you anymore. It's best to divorce him-"
"Oh, he'll have it. I've already signed the divorce papers," Lauren responded to her shock. "You can have your man."
Sophia didn't see that coming so soon. She was still expecting Lauren to try and fight back. Why was she giving up so soon? Well, she shouldn't concern herself with that, right?
She cousin help but be a little suspicious. Why would anyone want to give up a man as Jayden Williams? He was rich, handsome and well... Rich.
" I see," she glanced at Lauren's hands and saw the envelope. " You better not try to beg. He doesn't-"
Lauren rolled her eyes and walked away. She didn't have time for this dramatic slut. She pushed the door open to get her business over and done with.
Jayden turned away from his window with his fingers in his mouth as he stared at the door. His heart sank when he saw her and for a moment, Lauren saw a look of relief on his face.
She cleared her throat, "Sir-"
"Lauren, thank God you're here!" He hurried across the room and the next thing, he was pulling her into a hug.
Lauren shrieked in his right embrace, too stunned to process what was happening.
"My love," he said once he pulled away, cupping her cheeks and staring into her eyes with a fond look-
No, no, what the heck was happening here?
"My love?" She arched her brow in question as she stepped away from him, letting his hands fall to the side and his face turned devastated.
"A-About last night," he sighed. " I saw the divorce papers when I went back home and I saw you signed them. I was too impulsive yesterday and I'm really sorry. Yes, we can fix this and talk about this."
Who was this man and what happened to the jerk of yesterday? She still couldn't believe her eyes.
" Say something, Lauren," he urged and tried to step closer but she evaded his touch. "I know you don't want us to-"
His eyes fell on her outfit and she watched as a frown slowly crept up his face. "You're... Still wearing the same clothes from last night. Where did you go?"
