The frightened young girl couldn't see me, and I wasn't sure what had drawn her to this part of the Packhouse when Alpha Walker was away, or why she felt any need to apologize to an empty room the way she had just done. She had approached Alpha Walker's bed with trepidation, taking tiny steps and glancing around her to make sure nobody was going to emerge from the shadows and tell her off for being here.
