Darkness swirled around as I stepped out of the car. It wasn't a natural darkness, like the one which came from the absence of light. This was a different sort of darkness, more twisted and malicious. I could feel it prickling along my skin, and my wolf recoiled from it. For what felt like the thousandth time, I wondered if this was a good idea. But this wasn't the time to quit and stop.
There were no trees around. The desert was cold and foreboding, and if it wasn't for the single cave in front of me where my beta, Daniel, and three other men were setting down the golden coffin, there was nothing else for miles around.
