10 The Juggling Gypsy If you've seen one tap room, you've seen them all. Or so Julian would have said a minute ago. But The Juggling Gypsy's was unique. While most tap rooms were fairly stuffy and at best dimly lit—even The Oarlock's, and it was spacious compared with most—the Gypsy's was bright and airy, with tall vaulted ceilings and oil lamps hanging at regular intervals just up out of reach. The windows were large and well-crafted, allowing a clear view of the stable yard on one side and the street out front on the other. The tables and benches were clearly of superior workmanship, carved from mahogany unless Julian missed his guess, and the bar along the left-hand wall was topped by polished marble. Marble!
