It seems to be an envelope of some sort. He flicks it and the brown envelope vanishes. He walks straight to where Mrs.Vindisia is standing, "Amara, don't you think it is rude not to greet one of the oldest, knowing that my presence is rare."
Slightly bowing, "forgive me, Rabbi Hombledore. What brings you here?"
His eyes scanning and wandering around desperately around the street, "the boy?"
"Today is his last day in high school and his birthday. He has gone to finish up the activities he had left unattended to." Amara says unmoved.
“Oh yes, birthday celebration, all right,” he says impatiently. “You’d think that Amara would be a bit more careful, but no — the fire four other kingdoms have noticed."
"I was careful and I had the cloaking spell to put them away."
"The aim was to keep him hidden all these years and nothing more. Hide him until the time was right and we have done an amazing job at that but you became careless with everything towards the end. Putting everything in jeopardy."
" Well, they’re not completely stupid. They were bound to notice something. Even if I hadn't made the mistake, the prophecy has unveiled itself about the joy."
“You can’t blame them for your flaws but there's“My dear Rabbi, surely a sensible person like yourself can call him by, Mael. Addressing him as Omiri will only put him in danger and that is what we don't want."
Rabbi Hombledore flinches, but Amara kept a straight face, seeming unbothered. If there is one thing that she hates, it is being reminded that Mael has a greater purpose other than to be her son.
“It is unfair to keep shoving his destiny in his face. I have never seen any reason to be desperate about him fulfilling his destiny. Of course, he will. He has to."
“I know you haven’t,” says Rabbi Hombledore , sounding half irritated, half admiring. “But you’re different. Everyone knows that you have taken your guardian/mother role seriously. You've been nothing but perfect at it. ”
“You flatter me,” said Amara calmly. “I know that I've forgotten his other responsibilities and I only see him as my son but, I'll never put the faith of the five kingdoms in jeopardy.”
“I know. What you are doing is what every mother would do. Protecting the interest of their child. And, you’re too — well — noble. He is also lucky to have gotten you as a guardian.”
“ Indeed.”
It seems that Rabbi Hombledore was getting impatient with his stay. He needs to head back to the academy before things go bizarre in his absence.
"Amara, I have to head back to the Academy now. Do well to get them ready for their departure. Kids in the academy can be a handful. We all at Rayvin Academy appreciates your hard work." He bows briefly and puffs into thin air. Disappearing like the way he appeared, with no trace or evidence of him ever been there.
Murmuring, "I can't believe that my son is going to be taken away from me."
With a piercing stare, she goes back to the house.
" Honey, what was the commotion all about?" Mr. Vandisia asks his wife while patting her back as she returns with a sad face.
"I am so sad that my son is leaving for an academy that I won't have access to him. Call me selfish. Call me whatever you want to call me but, he has been in my life for so long that I can't come to terms with this change. I know that he will be kept safe and all that but that doesn't stop the fact that his auntie is still after his head." Amara began to wrap the cards into folders, she got busy more than usual feeling sad and down knowing the fact that her son was about to be taken away from her.
At one point she lost it. So furious that she lost self-control and was about to bite her husband's neck when Harry walked in and exclaimed, " Mum, what are you doing?"
THE PARTY
Mael hates parties but had no choice but to attend this one. It is his final night in high school and would not miss the Prom. Although it took a lot of convincing from Harry before he made up his mind to attend. He had considered staying back but with all the pep talk from Harry was persuaded into going. Truthfully their main focus is the party Grenada had thrown. She has been Mael's crush right from the first time he set his eyes on her till this day. Sadly, she has never taken notice of him other than 'hi and hello.' She holds the same stand with Harry in school, the popular kids. Beautiful, tall, hot legs, slender figure, honey-brown eyes, black long hair, olive smooth skin, and a well-structured face.
Grenada's family has money. And lots of it. Her house is enormous and could fit the entire students from school if she wants to. Her pool has to be one of the finest and, people took advantage of the gorgeous, heated swimming pool in her house whenever there is a party.
Parties were annoying to Mael. The only reason he had even considered coming is to catch a glimpse of Grenada one more time before they leave high school. And of course, Harry's endless whining brought him over. Mael has been single all his life and the only girl he cares about doesn't give a universe about him. If he had stayed back from this party, least assured that Harry will taunt him for the rest of his life. To put an end to it, he had to displease himself for his sanity, even though it is not exactly what he wants.
But on the other hand, Harry got a lot of girls begging for his attention. He even has the choice to pick who to roll with and who to dump. Maybe been a hot stud athlete, boosted that field for him or his good-looking face. Whatever it is, did a real good job in gaining popularity. He is the best in his team and is only waiting to graduate college before he joins the pros. He was a god in his art. He knows his onion so well. Even though he is in high school, he has been getting offers from top-notch basketball clubs.
Harry isn't the one who settles for a girl. He hates the idea of belonging to someone it makes him feel that he is in some kind of cage. With all his achievements maybe that is what gave rise to his present feelings towards relationships. Wining so man championships for his school. He is a star. But it comes to academics Mael saves his ass. If not for Mael, Harry wasn't going to be among those that are celebrating graduating high school tonight.
Although he is somewhat of a snub, a lot of people were happy to ride along with him. Some despise him but pretends to like him and others genuinely like him for his skill.
Harry is probably making out with the most available girl that he has seen. He is such a playboy and I pity the girls in the college he would be attending.
Missing my way around the house, I catch sight of Harry in the private hot pool at the top of a fountain that fed the main pool, making out seriously with some blonde I have never seen him with. It was disgusting and I had to get out of there. Which was why when David Krane, my worst nightmare dragged me by the hand to some stupid game, I didn’t complain.
“Come on, Mael. Don’t be a weirdo, come play with us.” He begs but drags me more.
At first, I wanted to fight him off but it will only earn me the weirdo and loner title which I am trying to give up as I graduate from high school.
“Spin the bottle games? What are we? Middle School?” It is so awful when people choose the wrong activity for fun. We should be bothered about graduating rather than stupid games that would never do us any good.
David who many thought to be gay because of his actions leaned into me, his pretty blue eyes sparkling mischievously. You could tell that he had nothing but mischief up his sleeves.
“Guess who’s going to be there?” he said, twitching his brows up and down. Getting this friendly with him never ends well. That is why I've no friends, because of things like that though. I hate gossips and frivolity.
I shake my head in disapproval, trying as much as possible to act uninterested but that is a huge lie. I am very much interested and he knows that.
David lifts one brow, challenging me, "not interested, huh?" He knows that I am dying to find out who. Although I tried to take a wild guess deep down considering that I am in the house of the only girl that makes my heart skip all the time. Who already has a boyfriend. Other than her, I don't care.
