Chapter 14 Burger or Jealous?

1079 Words
"Ah-choo!" Three ah-choo sounded in the air at the same time. Amy pushed Steven away and saw a large bunch of red rose in his hand. She hurriedly moved away the bunch. She rushed back, carefully examined Logan and Laurel's little red face. Fortunately, there were only a few small bumps, nothing too serious. "Logan, how are you? Does it hurt?" Amy looked at her children and asked with concern. "Mommy, I'm fine." Logan gently shook his head. Logan couldn’t help but look at Mike's handsome face. He also sneezed with them, and his face had a few small red dots too. He and Laurel were allergic to pollen. When they went to the hospital for examination, the doctor said it should be hereditary, and he always thought that they inherited it from their father. But now it seemed, they inherited it from their uncle. "Baby, what's going on with you? Why did you suddenly sneeze?" Steven touched Logan and Laurel's little face with concern. "There seem to be little red dots. Baby, you aren't allergic to pollen as your uncle, are you? " "Yes, Dad, we’re allergic to pollen... ah-choo!" Before she could finish speaking, Laurel began to sneeze again. Something occurred to Steven. His face became stiff for a moment. Almost immediately, his face resumed the look of a happy boy, and he forced a laugh, "This is very surprising." Then he took Logan and Laurel's hands in his with great guilt and said, "I'm sorry, baby. I'm sorry. Daddy didn't know you were allergic to pollen. If I knew it earlier, daddy would have gotten your mother another surprise." "Daddy, we're fine. My face doesn't itch at all." Laurel tried to assure Steven. "Daddy, don't feel guilty. By the way, you said we will have a burger tonight. Let's eat. I want a burger." "All right baby, we're going to have a burger." Steven picked up Laurel and walked quickly inside the villa. Laurel peeped at Mike and stuck out her tongue in secret. She felt that she was a little traitor. Daddy was so kind to her. But sometimes she hoped that mommy and her uncle would be together in the future. In order to take care of Logan and Laurel, Steven specially hired several servants. The food was well prepared by them and everything looked very delicious to eat. Logan was very hungry. He held the burger with his left hand and a can of coke with the right hand. He was about to take a bite when he noticed that Mike was also using his left hand to eat. Logan could not help but take a look in the direction of Steven. He was serving food to Amy. What Steven used was his right hand. Logan’s mind was running. By birth, he and Steven were father and son. However, in terms of appearance, character, or other aspects, he wondered why he was more like uncle Mike than Steven? "Amy, eat more, you're too thin." Steven put a pancake on her plate. "I remember you used to like pancakes." After listening to Steven's words, Mike picked up a pancake tray. He was about to serve it to Amy. However, as he was approaching her plate, he suddenly came back to his senses. What was he doing? It was not right for him to serve her food. "Steven, you don't have to serve food for me. I can do it myself." Amy said helplessly, looking at her plate in which the food piled up like a small mountain. "Amy, I just want to serve you all the time." Steven didn't feel bad at all and answered with a wide smile on his face. "Steven, dig in. Food tastes good when it is hot." In fact, Amy wanted to say, if he stared at her so much, she could not eat. But she did not want to hurt Steven's heart, so she was being polite. "Amy, you are so kind to me." Steven was touched by her concern for him. Suddenly, he moved a little closer to her. He put his arms around her slender waist and lay on her shoulder like a puppy. "Amy, I still feel like I'm dreaming. We really have kids, and I feel so happy. I’m so happy that I fear it is not true. I'm afraid it's just a dream." "Amy, neither you nor the babies will leave me, will you?" Mike saw Steven's hand resting on Amy's waist. His hand paused, the fork in his hand fell down on the table. He found it hard to breathe. Suddenly he didn't feel like eating. Mike took his eyes off Amy and Steven. "I have something to do. I have to go back now." Actually, Steven wanted Mike to leave soon. So he didn't try to stop him. Steven put his arm around Amy. "Amy, it would have been nice if you hadn't sneaked out that night five years ago. Then we wouldn't have to miss each other for so many years." Amy quickly pushed Steven away. "Didn't you leave first that night?" "Huh?" Steven was stunned. The words of the woman who called him earlier in the day came to his mind. Did he really sleep with another woman that night? ‘Who was with the Amy then?’ Steven looked calmly at Logan who was eating with his left hand. ‘Did Amy go to Mike’s room? Were the children also Mike's kids? Who was with Susan then?’ Steven was still lost in thoughts when he heard Amy say, "Steven, I have to tell you something. I've always regarded you as a good friend, just a friend. Even Logan and Laurel..." Steven was not stupid. Hearing Amy's words, he naturally guessed she was going to refuse to be with him. His face was a little pale. He tried to force a stiff smile, "Amy, let's go on eating the food and talk about this thing later." Amy knew that Steven was changing the subject. But she had to say what she felt. It would be cruel for her to give him any kind of hope when she didn’t want to be with him. Just when she was about to speak, Amy's cell phone rang suddenly. As soon as she picked the phone, she heard an anxious voice on the other end of the phone, "Dr. Amy? Are you available now? Mike is very sick. If you can, please come over."
