I laughed at my wolf. She had a really possessive edge to her thoughts and I could already feel that she wasn't going to take any s**t. 'Amira, I would love you to, but I think we may be in enough trouble as it is'. I felt my mouth turn up into a smile. My wolf counterpart was as sassy as I hoped she would be. 'Our mate is in there and he is here to protect us' she declared proudly. I was a little dubious about that - I'd been a bit of a lone wolf, pardon the pun, for over five years now. Now I'm stood here with my female wolf counterpart, who insists my mate is there to look after, surely it can't be that easy. 'Well there's only one way to find out, I suppose' I reached for the door handle ready to knock 'WAIT' Amira cried out in my head. 'April, when we get inside there is a chance that somethings will not make sense. I am begging you just to pause before you make any rash decisions'.
'What the hell are you talking about?' Ok so my wolf also appeared to be a little odd. But I could roll with quirky I supposed. 'I've never made a rash decision in my life' 100% true I was too much of a coward!! 'Well don't start now April' I felt her turn her back on me and retreat back into my sub-conscious. Rude as well? Gee we're off to a flying start with this one.
'Right get me through this door.' I knocked far louder than was necessary and played with the emerald on my necklace until someone eventually opened the door.
"April, nice to see you." The Alpha let me in and then paused with the door open "Where is your father"
"Alpha, its lovely to see you again, my father said he'd meet me here" I bowed my head to show respect to my pack leader.
"And where exactly is he child?" Alpha Ryan used his Alpha voice. I couldn't lie to him even if I wanted to. "I'm not sure sir. He left me a note to say that he would meet me here. I was working today and he wasn't home when I got back, so I got ready and made my way over..." I was starting to waffle, I was nervous and it showed. A door opened behind the Alpha and the beautiful smell of my mate came wafting out of the room. It calmed me down immediately, It reminded me of having an alcoholic drink. When I do have something it makes me feel warm and relaxed and my bones start to feel as if they're turning to liquid. Only this was on a much grater scale. I really wanted to go into that room - But stepping around the Alpha isn't great Werewolf etiquette. So I would have to wait. Alpha Ryan growled in what I assume was frustration. "Follow me Miss Miller". "Yes sir".
It looked like we were headed to the room with the amazing smell, the door was now closed but the scent was still, every bit as sweet... Unfortunately we walked past it to the next room on the same side. The Alpha's office, I'd been here before. "Sit down". I did as I was told. This was going to be a disaster. His voice held no compassion. He stared at me without sympathy. I automatically dipped my head. I caught view of my blouse.. As if I thought dressing up could save me. How stupid!
The Alpha took the seat opposite me.
"Look April there is no point in beating around the bush here. Your father has royally f****d up!!" I lifted my head to look at him. s**t, s**t, s**t. "Alpha sir, I'm sure what ever he did he didn't mean to do it, he is lost in grief but I believe he is making progre-"
"SILENCE APRIL" he boomed at me. He opened his mouth to start balling at me again but then his eyes glazed over. He was receiving a mind link, and by the way he was wincing and screwing his face up, it was obvious the Wolf on the other end was not happy. This was in contrast to Amira who I could hear purring in my head. After just a few moments focused his attention back on me.
"April, Your Father wandered onto another packs territory, drunk! He tried to assault the Gamma's mate, and then tried to Attack the Beta. Naturally he was no match for any of them due to the state he was in. But he's set off a chain of events that has to be stopped at any cost!"
This was bad, really, really bad.. I let out a shaky breath... "Are we to be cast out Alpha Ryan" Honestly I had my fingers crossed for this scenario. I wasn't sure how that would work, but we'd be alive at least.
"If only it were as simple as that child. Let me explain. Your father crossed onto the lands of one of the biggest packs in the country. They have over 1,000 wolves and more than half of them are warriors. We are 300 strong with less than half having fighting power. They don't just want to kill your father, they want to s*******r this entire pack!!"
I felt like all the air had left my body. I could hear what the Alpha was saying but my brain couldn't quite believe it. My fathers behaviour wouldn't just get him killed or me killed, but the entire pack. I started to here clanging noises in my head... I was going to pass out, the Alpha was still speaking but his voice was getting further away... Unconsciousness was starting to nip at the corners of my mind. I was about to give in to it when I heard him say "So as it's the only way out of this I have no choice, and this way everyone gets to live"
"Alpha forgive me, I wasn't able to process what you just said" Could you repeat that again" I didn't really need to here what he said. I already owed him big, so I was clearly some sort of sacrificial lamb. But my life in exchange for my Dad's and three hundred other wolves. What an absolute no brainer. Where do I sign?
The Alpha looked at me with regret in his eyes. "April in exchange for the lives of all pack members, including your father, you are to be come prisoner at the pack your father disrespected"
Relief flooded over me, was that all? I almost laughed. There weren't many Packs that tortured wolves these days. I'd probably spend my life behind silver bars. But everyone else got to live... I was about to jump over the table to kiss Alpha Ryan when there was an Almighty Roar from the next room. I was on my feet and ready to make a run for it, when the sound of a piano crashing into a wall had me hiding under the table.
"YOU???, YOU f*****g BASTARD!!!"
