Lerisa sighed as she knew she couldn't miss Anthony's birthday party. She had been there with him since he celebrated his seventh birthday, and now he had become an adult.
She realized that if she avoided attending his birthday party, it might seem as though she was jealous or holding a grudge against him, which would cause her parents to frown upon her.
Lerisa fixed her gaze on the road as she drove her car out of the street, preparing to turn onto another street before merging onto the main road.
But just then, she saw a lady and a man kissing in front of a black car parked on the street.
Lerisa wondered who the shameless young lady and the man were who were kissing in public instead of finding somewhere private.
Most of the houses in the estate were individually owned, and Lerisa knew that wealthy families lived around her neighborhood; many families resided together instead of having tenants.
As she drove her car ahead to exit the street and approached the black car, Lerisa got a better look at the lady's face. To her shock, she realized the young woman was Anthony's girlfriend, Clara Harry, who was kissing the man by the roadside.
Lerisa's jaw dropped as she slowed down her car to get a better view of their faces.
She had wanted to look away from the couple who had been kissing, but it was hard to ignore. The man was wearing a white top and black trousers, while the lady wore a short blue-jeaned skirt and a pink crop top.
Lerisa couldn't believe that Anthony's sweetheart, whom he was planning to propose to, would confidently kiss another man in public.
She parked her car ahead of them on the street and continued to stare back at them, unable to drive away.
"This is the woman that Anthony wants to propose to today," Lerisa's heart broke. She loved Anthony very much and didn't know how she would tell him the truth.
She immediately took out her Android phone and contemplated calling Anthony to catch his girlfriend red-handed kissing another man by the roadside.
Lerisa didn’t want to be the one to deliver the news to Anthony that Clara wasn't wife material and that she was cheating on him.
"What do I do now?" Lerisa asked herself as she remained seated in her car.
She considered stepping out to confront Clara about why she was cheating on Anthony, but she was afraid of the man's reaction and didn't know who he was.
"The man is so shameless for kissing Clara here in public. Who is he—a thief or a bad man?" Lerisa continued to contemplate what to do as she saw the man speaking to Clara, and then they started kissing again.
Lerisa knew that Clara had no regard for anyone; Clara was rude, and if it wasn't for her love for Anthony, Lerisa wouldn’t care about Clara cheating on her boyfriend.
"Oh no!" Lerisa finally stepped out of her car and snapped photos of Clara and the black man together, making sure not to use her phone's flash to avoid alerting the couple.
She put her phone back in her car, locked her small red car door, and walked up to confront Clara and the man, who were still kissing. The man held Clara closely by her waist while Clara stood in front of him, kissing him back.
"Clara!!" Lerisa yelled, calling Clara’s name. She knew how often Clara visited LH Group and spent hours in Anthony’s office kissing him too.
Lerisa believed she had to endure Anthony’s relationship with Clara, whom she wanted him to stop dating.
She had also lied to Clara several times, telling her that Anthony wasn’t around since she was Anthony’s secretary.
Clara looked surprised to see Lerisa, as she hadn’t expected to see anyone who truly knew her on the street.
Her best friend had celebrated her birthday at a hotel the previous night, where she met the handsome black man who was now with her. He was so attractive, and she couldn't resist his offer of a one-night stand. They had exchanged contacts, and he offered to drop her off at home.
Seeing Lerisa staring at her coldly made Clara panic; she knew Lerisa would report her to Anthony. But she had lied to the attractive guy, claiming that she was single and not in any serious relationship before getting intimate with him.
Clara loved Anthony, but he was like a mummy's boy and did whatever his parents wanted him to do—something Clara disliked.
Clara also knew that Anthony's mother didn’t like her, which was why she didn’t want to visit Anthony's family home for his birthday celebration in the evening. She was looking for an excuse to give to Anthony to avoid attending, but now that she saw Lerisa, she realized she must attend the party.
"Babe, who’s she?" the black man, still holding Clara by her waist and pressing her against his body, asked.
Clara turned to face Lerisa, her back resting on the tall man’s chest, and replied, "I don't know her, babe."
"Clara! What do you mean you don’t know me?" Lerisa asked Clara in disbelief.
The man's eyes shifted, staring at Lerisa's face and her curves, particularly her full chest.
Lerisa finally walked up to them, and the man's eyes nearly popped out of his sockets as he stared at her in admiration.
The sun blazed brightly overhead, making her look radiant, with her long, blonde hair glowing.
The man found himself staring at Lerisa intensely while Clara said to him, "Don’t listen to her, babe. I don't know who she is. When will you be going home? I need to go inside now and take my bath."
Clara turned to face the man, turning her back on Lerisa again, and kissed him on the lips.
Lerisa quickly interrupted, saying, "Since you claim you don’t know me, Clara, I’m going to report you to Anthony. So you’re truly cheating on him, right?"
"Excuse me, young lady! Who’s Anthony? And who the hell are you?" Clara yelled as she turned to face Lerisa, pretending not to know who she was.
Lerisa's jaw dropped at first, and she shook her head in disbelief. She clapped her hands and remarked, "So you don’t know me, Clara? It’s okay. We shall see."
Lerisa turned and walked away from them, feeling uncomfortable about how the black man was staring at her.
She returned to her small red car and glanced back at them as they continued to stare at her.
Lerisa opened her car door, got in, and drove off.
Clara frowned slightly, still loving Anthony—and his money. She said to the man named Remy Creed, "Don’t mind her, babe. I really don’t know who she is... Imagine her accusing me of being someone else."
"Hmm..." Remy didn’t reply as he continued to watch Lerisa get into her car.
He finally said, "It’s alright. I have to go now, April. It was a pleasure meeting you. We will chat some other time. Bye."
"Okay, bye, Remy," Clara said, kissing him goodbye on the lips as she stepped aside to watch him get into his black car parked beside them in front of her house. She watched him start the car engine and drive off.
