Prologue
ANGELINA Santaniel couldn't stop crying in pain. She has been in labor for more than 8 hours now but her baby is still not close to coming out. Her water also broke a few hours ago. Her mother Anmita, is starting to get worried because she can tell that her daughter is in unbearable pain.
Anmita looked at the midwife and asked "Should we take her to the hospital?"
The midwife looked at Anmita and shook her head as she said "By the time we get to the hospital, it would be too late."
Angelina has decided to give birth at home since the hospital is too far away, and they don't have money to pay for the hospital fees. Unfortunately, she didn't take into account any complications that might arise from her giving birth.
Anmita looked at her daughter, before turning back to the midwife and asking "What do we do?"
Midwife: "She'll just have to push the baby out. She's not fully dilated yet, but her amniotic fluid is drying out. She needs to get the baby out very soon."
Anmita nodded before turning back to her daughter and saying "Angelina, honey, I need you to push when the midwife tells you to. Can you do that for us?"
Angelina was shaking her head and crying as she said "I can't Amma, I'm so tired."
Anmita: "I'm sorry honey. You're going to have to do it. The baby needs to come out now."
The midwife checked on Angelina before saying "You're close. I just need you to give one strong push, and the baby should come out. You will need a cesarean if the baby doesn't come out in the next few minutes. We're not equipped to do that."
Angelina nodded before nodding. She's too tired to even talk anymore, but hearing what the midwife said got her motivated to get her baby out soon.
Midwife: "Okay, Angelina, on the count of three, I need you to push. Push really hard."
Anmita and the midwife looked at each other and nodded. Anmita then held Angelina's hand tightly and said "I love you, Angelina. You can do this."
Midwife: "Here we go. One... Two... Three. Push!"
Angelina screamed as she pushed the baby out as hard as she could. All Anmita could do was stay by her daughter's side, and assure her that she could do this.
After a few seconds, Anmita's heart fluttered as she heard the baby crying. She turned to look at the beautiful tiny creature in the midwife's hands as she said "It's a girl."
Anmita couldn't help but notice how beautiful the baby girl was. The baby has fair skin, and when she opened her eyes momentarily, she noticed a tinge of blue on them. She turned back to her daughter and said "It's a girl, honey. She's quite beautiful."
Angelina whispered "Arianna. I want to name her Arianna," before she closed her eyes, and her head drooped."
Anmita gasped and started patting Angelina on the cheek as she said "Angelina, honey, wake up."
When Angelina didn't respond, the midwife asked Anmita to hold the baby before checking on her daughter.
When the midwife started performing CPR on Angelina, Anmita started crying as she held her granddaughter. After a few minutes, the midwife shook her head and said "I'm sorry, Anmita."
It appears that the childbirth has caused too much stress on Angelina's body, and she eventually passed away.
Anmita wept for the loss of her daughter and wept for her granddaughter, who just lost her mother.
