*Grant's POV*
I woke up in the pack infirmary. I sat up on the metal table and immediately started looking for Winter.
"She's not here Grant." Tyran said.
"Do not tell me you let her go with him." I said angrily.
"He promised me she would be safe." He said like I was about to explode, and boy, was he right.
I jumped up and slammed him up against the wall of the infirmary by the collar of his shirt.
"So what?! I can promise you that Winter wasn't my mate, but I would be lying!! See how easy that was?!"
"Maybe we just misunderstood vampires all along." Tyran whispered shyly.
"Misunderstood?! Do you know who that Ash guy is?! He's the reason all vampires have that reputation!!" I continued yelling.
"Everyone deserves a second chance." Tyran said, afraid of my reaction.
"This boy killed his own mother Tyran!" I yelled.
Ash is only allowed to be one of the rulers of his village because there was no real evidence against him, but I know for a fact it was him.
"I just did what Winter asked okay?!" Tyran shouted. "She wanted me to let her go without a fight. So, I did. I'm just hoping that you're wrong and he won't hurt her." He said more calmly.
I narrowed my eyes at him.
"She's probably already pupped by now thanks to you." I said, full of hate. "And it's all your fault." I said with my voice cracking. I felt a tear run down my face.
"I'm sorry Grant." He apologized.
"When you find your mate, I would move far away, to a place where I will never find you, because I swear to God, you will feel the same thing I'm feeling." I said.
"If I could take it back, I would." He said.
"As if you care, I tried to get you to help me, but you turned away. I needed your help to fight those vamps last night, but you were still mad that Winter wasn't your mate and you wouldn't help her, so you went your own way." I said, restating the events from the night before.
"I do care. I promise." He whispered, hurt.
"Whatever. I'm leaving." I said.
"You can't. There's guards around the pack until they know no one can track Winter." He said.
"After they leave, I'm leaving too, becoming a rogue." I said.
There's nothing here for me. Winter's gone.
*Winter's POV*
I do regret what I said now.
"I'm sorry, please, just don't do this." I begged.
I can only imagine how miserable I looked right now. I don't care though, I just needed to get out of this situation.
"Winter, calm down, I'll be the first and the last person to see you that vulnerable."
How is that supposed to make me feel better?
"I'll give you blood, anything else, please." I begged, while tilting my head down to look at the floor.
I heard him walk over to me.
"I don't want blood. This is what I want. This will make me happy." He said.
I bet it'll make him a lot more than happy. I couldn't hold it in any longer. I felt the tears pour from my eyes. I guess this is how submission works. I do what he says and it's supposed to make me happy as well. He grabbed my chin and lifted my face up to look at him. He gave me a sympathetic look.
"I'm scared." I said, hoping he would understand.
"There's no need to be scared, this is all new to you, after awhile, this will all seem normal." He said while looking me in the eyes.
"Please don't judge." I whispered quietly.
"I would never judge you, your mine, your perfect." He said, cradling my face.
"If only you knew how imperfect I really am." I whispered barely loud enough for me to hear, but I know he heard me.
Then, I dropped the towel from around me. I fought the urge to cover myself up, knowing he wouldn't accept that. He walked around me, admiring me. I don't see how though, there are scars all over my torso and legs.
"Who caused this?" He said through gritted teeth.
"I don't know, it happened the night my dad..." My voice trailed off thinking of the memory.
I ran, faster and faster, dad told me to leave after we heard screaming outside our den. I had shifted to my wolf form and made it to the edge of the woods when I heard my dad scream. I stopped in my tracks and turned back to our den. It was on fire. No. I howled to see if he would respond... But there was nothing but the screams of the other pack members. He thought I hated him. After he had Xavier killed for stealing drugs, I was ignoring him. I knew he couldn't help him. His job was to give a punishment without bias, and that's exactly what he did. Xavier was eighteen, he had to face his crimes, which was death. Even if he was my friend, dad couldn't have helped him. I knew I had to keep going, but I didn't want to. I wanted to go back and check on my dad. I knew I would be killed though. I calmed myself down enough to turn back around keep going. Not running, but walking, it's all I could manage at the moment. I felt a shiver up my spine when I heard a male voice behind me.
"What do you think you're doing?" He called out.
I started running, but I didn't make it very far. I was tackled and pinned, forcing me to shift so he didn't break every bone in my body.
"Please. I'll do anything." I spoke.
"You're young, about thirteen right?" He asked.
"Yes. I'm thirteen." I said.
"Wish you were eighteen, that'd be nice, we'd have some fun before I kill you." He said, scaring me.
"Please! Please don't kill me! I'll do anything!" I said while crying out of the panic that had rose up inside me.
"I don't really want to do this, but I need all of the members of this pack dead. I'm sorry." He said before biting me. He bit everywhere until I passed out. Some of the bites healed without a mark, while others left scars, mainly on my back and legs. I don't remember his voice all that well and I couldn't see in the dark. So, there's no way of finding him.
"I don't care how many scars you have you're still the most beautiful creature I have ever laid eyes on." He said, cradling my face.
"It was a vampire." I said quietly.
"Did you see their face?" He said with his teeth gritted.
"No. Werewolves have terrible vision in the dark." I said looking down.
"Y'know, I was going to save this image of you for another night, but I'm glad I know about he scars beforehand, because, let's just say, I would get pretty mad, and when I get really mad, I get very stressed, and let's just say you probably wouldn't be able to walk for a week."
What? I'm so confused. Why would I not be able to walk?
"What?" I asked.
He laughed at my reaction.
"I forgot you haven't learned those things yet. It's okay, I'll teach you." He said, kissing the top of my head. "You can get dressed now, little wolf." He finished, handing me my clothes.
I quickly put them on. He watched me very closely.
"Please don't call me that." I begged.
Dad used to call me little wolf. I was "his little wolf." I would always smile when he said that. I'm glad I had dad for as long as I did. I had heard about males leaving their pups to die after their mate died of childbirth. It actually happened quite frequently, which was really sad.
"Well why not? I find it cute."
"It was my dad's nickname for me." I said, looking down.
I felt a single tear run down my face at the thought of those words. He walked toward me and realized I was crying.
"Hey Winter, it's okay, I'm sure he's watching over y-"
I cut him off by running over to him and wrapping my arms around him. I buried my face in his chest. He hesitated at first from shock at my sudden movement. After a second or two, he wrapped his arms around me and started rubbing my back soothingly. I normally wouldn't do this, but I don't have anyone else here.
"I miss him so much." I sobbed.
"I know Winter, but I'm here, and I promise I always will be." He said soothingly in my ear.
We stayed like that for a few more minutes. Just as I thought I had control of myself, my wolf took over. Apparently, it wanted to say something on the subject. I pulled away and put my hands on the side of his face. No. Don't tell me I'm about to do what I think I'm about to do. I pulled his head toward mine and connected our lips. Why is my wolf side so forgiving? He stole me from my pack for God's sake. I pushed my wolf aside and regained control. I quickly pulled away.
"Sorry. I don't know what came over me." I lied as I looked off to the side and tucked a piece of hair behind my ear. He took a step forward. I took a step back... But my legs hit something wooden... The foot-board of his bed. He had taken a few more steps in my direction, pinning me against the foot-board. He was about a half a foot away. It was now that I realized that his eyes were black.
"It's fine Winter. I enjoyed it." He said, smiling. What? He's not mad? Then why are his eyes black? He ran his hand up my side, making me shiver. "Did you like that Winter?" He whispered.
"No." I lied.
"Liar." He said breathily.
"W-What are you gonna do?" I stuttered slightly.
"I'm gonna make you feel good. Really good, Winter."
There was a knock at the door.
"Ash, it's dinner time." The girl with the high pitched voice spoke from her other side of the door.
"I'm busy." Ash responded, irritated.
"I don't care, we all need to talk about Winter." Joey said.
So, there was more than one person outside.
"We've been waiting on you." Cole said.
Make that three people.
"Yeah dude, it's like... 7:30." Another man responded.
Okay, four people.
"Fine." Ash said, giving up.
Joey opened the door. I was naked a while ago and the door was unlocked, that's just great, note my sarcasm.
"Let's go." Cole said, motioning out the door.
Ash grabbed my hand and made me walk beside him. After awhile of walking, we made it to a large room dimly lit with candles high up on the walls. There was a large table in the middle of the room with five chairs. Wait, five? But there's six of us. We all walked toward the table. There were two chairs on the sides and one at the end. Ash sat at the end and everyone else took a seat. I stood beside Ash until he grabbed me by the waist and pulled me into his lap. His eyes were no longer black, they must've changed back on the walk here. Joey and Cole sat to our right and the other two sat on our left. A lady brought in cups of drinks for all of us. She handed me, Ash, and the blond boy I don't know the name of, water, and handed the girl I don't know the name of, Joey, and Cole, blood. The lady walked away and Joey immediately started drinking the blood quickly through the straw.
"Joey are you okay?" The other girl asked in a concerning tone.
Joey finished off the blood and responded.
"I'm fine Alee. It's just been a tough week." She said in a reassuring voice.
Okay, note to self, the girl with the blonde hair is Alee. Cole turned and slammed his fist on the table.
"That's it! Joey, you need to stop doing this to yourself you know it's killing you." He spoke in a harsh tone.
"I'm fine Cole! Worry about yourself!" She yelled back.
"I'm not going to sit here and watch you wither away because you're too scared to follow your instincts!" Cole shouted.
She looked down for a few seconds before standing up.
"I'll be back." She said and ran toward the entrance of the room.
"Joey wait." Cole said but she ignored it and slammed the door to the room on her way out. Cole jumped up and followed her.
*Cole's POV*
I ran out the door to follow Joey, but she wasn't in the hallway. I thought that I would check her room. I didn't mean to upset her. I just know that she can't last much longer like this. It may seem stupid, but vampires literally have to have s*x to survive. If they don't, they start to drink more blood, then they start to get sick, until, they finally die a slow, painful death. That's the only way a vampire can really die. Joey has been fighting it for a very long time now. It's heartbreaking to see her like this. Ash has stopped trying to convince her, it's useless for him. I finally made it to her room and the door was open. I heard gagging and ran in. Her bathroom door was open too. I seen her crouched over the toilet. I ran to her side and pulled her hair back while she continued to dry heave. I whispered words in her ear like 'it's okay' and 'you're gonna be alright'. I looked down into the toilet bowl and seen she was coughing up blood. That was one of the last stages before death for vampires.
