I was in bed, finally having a rest, even though it was just in the afternoon. I spent so much energy trudging from one place to the other on foot as I tried to keep up with Niklaus’ strides. I was still yet to come to terms with all that happened. It still felt surreal and was like any moment, I would wake up and see that it was all a horrible nightmare.
A scream broke my focus and had me sitting up sharply, the covers falling to my waist. I looked to the side; outside the window of the room I was given, which boasted a clear view of the woods. I leaned back on the headboard, too alert to go back to lying down like before. The scream came again for the second time and had me throwing the duvet off my legs.
