Guardians of the Opal Moon

Chapter 14

Axel runs off, leaving Jade alone. They have been working hard while the others have been gone, they have got most things in place, the training rings were only er*cted this morning and some of the grass only laid at the same time.

Jade has been so excited about this house and it was close to completion. It was just with everything else that has been going on, works got put on the back burner, so to get it over the line in four days was nothing short of miraculous.

Jade made the decision that it was not worth trying to make everyone fit in the opal moon pack house for extended period of time, even training in front of the other pack members would raise too many questions. It is just too odd of a scenario that it would draw too much attention, they are not trying to hide thing from the pack exactly but after the whole pack being disrupted with the gathering it is easier just to separate. This way, they have their own space and can operate undetected.

Axel’s main objective now is to get reliable security around the place, using Jasper and Cressida to find the right candidates. They want to be away from prying eyes. Jasper is going to be in charge of being a liaison between them and the outside world for now. He and Cressida are the only unmarked ones that are allowed in the building. The more tight knit the better.

Information escaping could spell the downfall of the operation. Jade and Axel do not want to be the reason for any downfall or anyone losing their life. The less the enemy knows about their fightback the better. They are in such a disadvantageous position at the moment, they know nearly nothing about the enemy, they are going into a battle blind.

Without knowing the enemy, it is impossible to know how much the enemy knows about them. If the enemy already knows, all of this is pointless. Keeping their movements, the team dynamic and even the members as secret as they can is the best course of action.

Axel stands in front of Jasper and Cressida, who have taken Axel’s car back to the center section. Axel shifts and Jasper hands him a pair of shorts. Axel looks at Cressida.

“I am really sorry I feel like we have been selfishly using you up this past week. Once this part is done, I promise you can ignore us for a month”

Cressie laughs, she finds it amusing that they are always apologizing for using her powers. She is more than happy to do what she can. She has been working two jobs just to make ends meet before coming here. Now she gets to be around people that appreciate her and do work and research that actually interests her, she feels like she is actually getting back to being what she was meant to be, living the life she would have been living inside a coven if her family hadn’t been slaughtered.

She is actually starting to be able to live the life of a witch. She may be surrounded by werewolves now, but it is all the same, they are never worried about her lack of ability and always ask her before getting her to do anything and always thank her at the end. She loves this life and what she does. If anyone had told her six months ago that this is what it would be like to live with a bunch of wild animals she never would have believed them.

“You know that I don’t mind doing any of this. As long as I don’t have to witness blood and violence, I am fine with anything”

Axel smiles and nods, he pats Jasper on the shoulder.

“You are in charge of this bud”

Jasper laughs and links very conscious of eavesdroppers.

‘How come I have all the responsibility and knowledge of the marked ones but I get none of the glory’

Axel rolls his eyes, what a joke, glory? It will just be a whole lot of work in the background that if they have done their job right, no one will even know about.

‘What glory? Struggling for our lives? I will get you a big ass trophy’

‘I am counting on it’

Axel walks into the pack house and starts loading up the groceries into the car before taking off again. He is not sure about how they are going to go about getting the volume of food organised that four alphas and four lunas are going to consume within a high intensity training set up.

At the Alpha house Jade leads all the others in for a tour. The house is big to an extent, but it was never built to house so many adults. It was more meant to be a family home. It has enough space but it may get a little crowded if people don’t get along. If all else fails, she will just have to source some RVs to separate people, but living together will be a good 'get to know you' endeavor, which in turn, will lead to a better team.

After a brief tour, Jade says.

“Today we will just get settled and get to know each other, but tomorrow is going to be the start of hell. I will push you beyond all limits. I want to know what the breaking point of each and everyone of you is. Once I know your breaking point, we can work on pushing you beyond all limits”

Ava looks at Jade excitedly, she looks so confident. Ava trains hard yet she has never reached her limit. She is interested to see if Jade is all talk or whether she is going to learn a lot. She hopes like anything, that it is the latter.

Alina is worried. She hasn’t been getting trained well for long. Before that, most of it is self-taught, how far behind these other girls is she actually going to be. Jade continues.

“You are free to do what you like and shift and run as you like but try and keep it within the confines of the Alpha house. We don’t want unnecessary attention”

Alexis grabs Lucas’ hand as they choose a room. As soon as the door is closed she jumps around excitedly. Lucas looks at her smiling slightly with a slight roll of his eyes.

“You think it is exciting to get pushed to breaking point?”

“Hell yes I do, haven’t you ever wondered what your body can take?”

Alexis has wanted to do this since she got her wolf. Everything she has done she has done with ease. While she gets tired and sore during training, she has never got to the point that she collapses or can’t take anymore.

“I have often wondered how much your body can take”

Alexis punches Lucas in the arm.

“Obviously more than you got”

She screams and runs as soon as the words are out of her mouth. One hand grabs her collar as he pulls her back to his chest. His voice is rough as he tightens his grip trying to crush her into his body.

“Is that so my little Luna?”

He is the one that started the s*xual jokes. She just automatically took it too far. Even though he knows that she is joking, she still needs some sort of severe punishment for even saying the words.

Alexis somehow manages to swivel around in his grip, slinging her arms around his neck, blinking her long lashes as she looks up at him with big blue-gray eyes, feigning innocence, which is a look that she can not pull off in the slightest as a slight mischievous grin hooks up on her thick perfectly shaped lips.

“Have I ever told you how handsome you are and how good in bed you are? You blow my mind with every movement”

Lucas pulls down the back of her pants and smacks her ass so hard that the sound echoes around the room, making her jump slightly toward him, closing the distance between the two bodies even more.

“Is that so?”

He smacks her again, a small squeal escapes her lips but she keeps her composure, kissing his strong jaw.

“Of course, you make my toes curl so hard I am surprised my feet don’t break”

He looks down at her trying to look threatening, but just looking at her stupid expression as she tries to look innocent while she is uttering nonsense. The laugh in his chest that he has been trying hard to suppress releases.

He picks her up and launches her from the doorway to the large bed. She winks at him as she flies through the air, he launches landing his big body on her small frame hardly four seconds after she lands, her lips connect to his instantly.
