His Ego

Noah was a cunning man. He disguised it well with charm and warm smiles. Lucian was aware that people loved to flock around Noah because they fell into the trap he set. Kim fell for the man behind the mask. He didn't quite understand what Kim liked about that manipulative personality but she tamed him. He became a family man but sometimes that manipulative personality peeked through. Lucian leaned back in his chair and stared at the phone on his desk. Noah told him to get the conversation out of the way as soon as possible. Hope for the best is what Noah told him. The thing about Scarlett was that it could go either way. She never showed her true personality. It was all wrapped up in a seductive gift. Noah and his overly flirty assistant got along the minute they met because they were both people who wore masks. Noah advised him to be honest with Scarlett. His brother was convinced that Scarlett would go along with their plan if they were honest about it. So he had to suck it up and get the conversation out of the way. He grabbed the phone and called Miss Archer. She answered at the second ring. The woman was quite efficient and not to mention dedicated to her job at only her first day at work. He definitely judged her too harshly that night when he found her in his office pretending to be an evil Bond villain. She was just having fun, trying to mock him for not showing up at the interviews. He could understand why she was upset about it. They were going to work together closely from now on. They had to get to know each other. The weekend away trip would help with that if she agreed to help them. Help him. "Could you come to my office, Miss Archer?" "I'll be right there." He placed his phone down, his eyebrows raising as he watched the woman enter his office in a record of time. "Please take a seat, Miss Archer." She looked unsure but she tried to hide it with confident strides to the chair. She sat down and crossed her legs, the tight skirt she wore riding up and showing off a bit of thigh. The woman always wore professional clothing but either her clothes showed off her curves or showed off a bit of skin. At least she was confident in her clothes. "Is everything alright?" She asked him, "Your brother made a dramatic entrance." Lucian couldn't agree more. He knew Noah got defensive like that because of him but his brother did make quite an entrance. He was sure Scarlett didn't know what to do with herself while Noah tried to charm her, butter her up for what he was about to ask her. "I know he was a bit over the top but my mother is planning something outrageous this weekend and my brother got upset on my behave. I apologize if he made you feel uncomfortable at any point." Her eyes widened, shaking her head, "No, it's not that." She quickly told him, "I was just worried something happened. It's my first day and I'm not sure if I am ready to face my first emergency yet." He was seeing the real Scarlett, at least he liked to think so. She lowered her guard and spoke in a more excited tone. She leaned back in her chair when she noticed he regarded her with a smile. She cleared her throat and pulled herself back together. "You okay?" He asked her. It wasn't fair of him to tease her a bit when she felt embarrassed about showing a different side to her. She might have wanted to keep up the persona she created and he was trying to break that down. It was best to discuss their weekend away and let her calm down so she could slip into the character of seductress again. "So about this outrageous thing." He started, "My mother has this obsession, she loves to play matchmaker and try and push these women onto me in hopes of me falling madly in love with one and get married." He noticed the glint in her eyes. He had her attention, that was a good thing he hoped. "Yet I have no intention of getting married just yet. I also don't like my mother forcing herself into my dating life. That's personal and she has no business in it." "I agree," Scarlett muttered. "I've told her before but she brushed it off." Scarlett smiled at him, her smile didn't quite reach her eyes though. It made her seem cold and distant, completely different from the woman who warmly smiled at his brother before. "Mothers tend to be like that." "Kim's mom isn't like that. She's a lovely woman." He noticed the confused look in her eyes so he quickly elaborated on that, "Kim is Noah's wife." Scarlett nodded, her eyes glittering mischievously at him, "Your mom isn't a lovely woman?" He could hear the laughter in Scarlett's voice. She was teasing him so he didn't take the bait. "Mom is lovely but also pushy." He leaned back in his chair, "But that's not what I wanted to discuss. So it turns out my lovely mother is plotting against me." Scarlett's neatly groomed eyebrows shot up, "Oh, like an evil villain?" She asked. He was aware of what she was referring to but he couldn't indulge her. Her teasing was getting to him and that wasn't right. "Miss Archer." He warned her. They weren't close enough to tease each other like that. It was also unprofessional. He needed to put a stop to it now. He was aware that what he was about to ask of her wasn't professional either but a little reminder to both of them to take on the roles of employer and employee was probably a good thing. "Sorry." Smiled. She wasn't sorry at all, that smile and the mischievous look in her eyes said it all. He sighed but let it go, "This weekend my family will stay at our beach house. It's located on a private beach and we usually go there to spend some time together." "Sounds like fun but you don't look like you want to go." "You are right about that." He agreed, "Because she is going to invite a woman over I rather not meet. I'm upset she'd ruin our family time together by doing this and normally I'd go visit her and tell her so but she thinks that I'm not aware of this." "I understand." He noticed how she straightened her shoulders, the amusement fading from her eyes. She was getting all serious and he rather liked that about her. She could drop the teasing act and focus on her job when it was needed, "What is it that you need of me, Mister Starr." Straight to the point, maybe they wouldn't cross lines they shouldn't if she agreed to go with him to the beach house. "I hate to ask this of you but I need to make a point." He hesitated despite Scarlett showing him that she was more than capable as his assistant, "Would you accompany me to the beach house this weekend? Mom hasn't called yet to invite me over but she will. I want to make her back off by showing up with someone I know won't make assumptions about this weekend." Scarlett let her eyes wander over him, she looked pensive. He didn't blame her, it was a lot he asked of her. "I suppose I can help you out, Mister Starr." Her lips tugged up to a smile, "But I'd like to get compensated for it." "Of course." She looked satisfied with his acceptance. It was the least he could do after asking her to get involved in his family matters. "What do you need me to do this weekend?" She asked. She didn't mention what she wanted out of this, he figured she'd tell him her price after he told her the tasks he wanted her to complete this weekend. He made it sound like a job but that was only to remind himself that they were going to pretend. That whatever was going to happen this weekend wasn't real. "I want you to make my mother believe that we're dating." "You want me to pretend to be your girlfriend?" She asked to clarify things. "Yes." He didn't hesitate, "I just need you to be there. It will get the message across." She looked amused by that, "I see, so we keep things professional with a few little hints to make your mom and the woman aware of your fake relationship." She concluded. "Noah and I will make the excuse of work getting too much at the office so we can spend the least amount of time with my mom and Jenna Pratt." "Your mom will not be happy about that." She whispered. He was aware that his mother would be annoyed with them, but he would have made his point and she would probably never do it again. His eyes trailed to his phone as it rang, as he glanced at the display he smiled at how predictable his mom was. "It's my mother, I need to take this." Scarlett got to her feet, "I'm at my desk if you need me." She left his office quietly, giving him some privacy to talk to his mother about the weekend away trip he wasn't supposed to know about. He reached for his phone and answered it, "Hello mom." Playing mind games was more up his brother's alley but he would do it and not feel bad about it. *** He kept his promise and met up with Dawn, the little vixen who won him over with a simple gesture. Fixing his tie in a record of time was all it took for him to like the woman. He wasn't interested in getting into a serious relationship but he didn't mind to see where things were going. If things happened then they happened. The little vixen sat across him in a restaurant of her choosing. It was an Italian restaurant. She ordered a shrimp pasta while he ordered a tomato and winter squash pasta. The bottle of red wine he ordered with it definitely helped set the mood. "I didn't think you'd make it tonight." She admitted to him. If he was completely honest with himself he wasn't really looking forward to this but then he decided it was probably best to get out of the office and focus on other things. Just to get his mind off the conversation he had with his mother. "Did I manage to change your mind about me?" She smiled shyly, her eyes lowering to look at her plate rather than him. She wasn't shy when she showed her body off to him that morning. "You did." She admitted quietly. "Yeah, you decided I'm not a jerk?" She looked up, her heated gaze luring him in, "You showed me you're not a bad person this morning." She smiled at him, "Thank you for the coffee by the way. That was really nice of you." He brushed it off as he sipped his wine, "I promised you coffee." "And you delivered." The food was good, the wine was great and it definitely helped set the mood between them. He didn't mind spending time with Dawn at all. His cousin would definitely have a field day. Then again the man didn't like to spend too much time on one woman alone. He liked to play the field. After Noah got married and had three kids his cousin latched onto him. He didn't mind because it was true that spending time with that man was fun. His cousin really lived his life and didn't care what other people thought of him. "About that tattoo-" She giggled, "Curious?" "I'm very intrigued. I didn't get the chance to look at it last night." Her cheeks heated up, "Well, you were kind of occupied." He smirked, knowing he was behaving more like Scarlett than himself right now. It was fun though, pushing people and seeing the change in their eyes. He could understand why Scarlett liked teasing people so much. She was good at it too. He wondered if he could play the game as well. He could give it a try now. It seemed Dawn wasn't offended by it. "You were too." A little smile played on her lips as she shook her head subtly. The little pink flush on her cheeks was cute too. "So the tattoo?" He asked. "It's the Cheshire cat hanging out on a tree." "So I was right about that." She giggled, "It's hard to miss though." "Yeah, quite a big tattoo." He agreed, "But yeah I was focused on other things." The woman who suddenly gone shy reached for her wine and gulped it down. He was curious as to why she needed the liquid curious. She was going to ask him something which made her nervous and behave so shyly. She was cute, he was glad he decided to go out to have dinner with her. "You think we can repeat that tonight?" She asked. A very straightforward question, he liked it though. He didn't mind taking her home tonight as well, he did enjoy her company. Maybe he could make her scream out his name tonight instead of her prayers to God. "Yeah, I think we can get to know each other a little better tonight." They finished their wine. He paid for dinner and like promised took her home with him. *** Lucian grabbed onto her soft thighs, spreading them wider as he moved inside her. Dawn made little noises which let him know she liked what he was doing to her. He changed the angle, moving deeper inside her which made her moan a little louder. He felt the strain in her thighs, she was reaching her orgasm. He wanted to help her out. He brushed his fingers over her sensitive nub which made her squeal. "Oh, God." She moaned louder. There it was again. He smirked, watching her face which showed off the pleasure she was feeling. Her eyes opened, she met his gaze and with careful fingers, she reached out for him. She brushed her fingers over his lips. He gave her what she wanted. Leaning in he kissed her, muffling her sounds as she came. They weren't done though, he would give her a minute to pull herself together then he'd start up again. He wasn't sure he'd see her again after this so he wanted to make the most out of it. She seemed to like that too. She brushed her fingers through his damp hair. "Lucian." She whispered. "You good?" She tiredly smiled, "So good." She breathed. He hovered over her, hooking her leg around his waist so he could be deep inside her. She mewed cutely, grabbing onto his biceps. She didn't look uncomfortable, she still made those cute little noises. He knew it was okay to start moving again then. "Lucian." She breathed, inhaling sharply as he reached that sweet spot inside her. Mission accomplished. She started saying his name as he pleasured her. It did boost his ego a little bit hearing her say his name over and over again. She was definitely a moaner in bed. Her touches were soft, almost loving. They were getting to know each other better in bed. He found the places on her body which made her tighten around him. The phone call he received earlier that day was definitely forgotten.
