By two in the afternoon, the food was done. Ret, Roscoe, and Danny lined up with their plates ready and I carved the turkey and gave each of them hefty portions. They then served themselves from the huge feast that Roscoe, with a little help from the rest of us, had prepared. Before we dug in, I raised my glass of Bols Liqueur in a toast. “What am I thankful for, you may ask? Well, everything, in fact. I’m thankful for the life I have with Ret and Roscoe, and now with Danny. Each of you brings me joy in your own way, and I’m happy that we all get along so well. We don’t try to change each other.
