I couldn’t get those words out of my mind.
All weekend, whenever I thought about what Darren said to me, I felt my pulse pound. I know it was just him being nice, saying things that bosses normally say to their employees, but it really meant a lot to me.
Plus, I couldn’t really escape any reminders of Darren, as I had to take care of Lucas all weekend. But, I didn’t really mind at all. Lucas was such an affectionate husky, it really brightened my spirits just being in the same room as him.
I could tell Luas was starting to get bored as the weekend droned on, as my apartment didn’t have the extensive play area he has at home. I did buy one of those communication boards to help his boredom, which really did seem to have an effect!
