“Oh, I just… bought this shampoo, randomly.” I say, trying to explain myself. Is the smell of his shampoo really that strong? “Maybe he has a similar brand?”   “Really? What do you buy, then? I’ve been meaning to switch out.” I try to recall what the exact gel bottle looked like when I took a shower earlier.   “Um, it’s this pink-gold bottle?” I start. “It’s Japanese I’m pretty sure… Kyoto-something?”   “Oh yeah! I know that brand.” She looks at me approvingly. “Ugh, I remember it being really expensive, though.”   “Y-yeah, well, you know…” I let out a nervous giggle. “Sometimes you have to treat yourself, I guess!” Lily smiles, and I feel relief sweep through me as I register that she’s bought my lie.
