NOT YOUR REGULAR DAY

ALPHA JAX’S POV. I nodded in approbation the moment I put on the shirt. It gave me the exact fit I wanted, not too tight nor too big. After that I tucked the lower part in before working my way to the top of the buttons, staring at the mirror to make sure I was doing it right. Stefan was skiing in the chair, shooting the breeze like this was a regular day. I was preparing for an Important trip, and it was necessary I came looking so prepared. Glancing at him through the mirror, he was cleaning and admiring his fingers. "Can we talk about her now?" He asked, not looking up at me. I stopped what I was doing for a moment, fixing my gaze at him before taking a deep sigh, and he instinctively picked it up from there. "You know, sometimes, fate throws someone into your path, and you can't just ignore it, no matter how much you try. I think that's the case here, you can't just ignore her like she's nothing, and you f*****g know it." His voice was laced with the normal mischief he spoke with, and it had me wondering if this was heading another way. I tightened my jaw, stopping at the middle of my shirt before turning around. The upper part of the shirt was exposed, and so was the dress. "I'd appreciate it if you stopped, Stefan. I don't want to talk about her, so change the damn subject." I said. But he smirked in response. I knew he wouldn't. He was persistent as hell. "Well, here's the kicker. If you go to this place, you might just have to bring her along. News of your supposed marriage might have reached her ears. I'm just saying." He added, shrugging as he watched my face for a reaction, and he got it. "I said, drop it, Stefan." I gritted my teeth at the mere mention of her. It just reminded me about the unsuccessful trials I've had in the past, smiling occasions like this somehow fell through. The stubborn bastard didn't. He was about to keep on talking about it when someone knocked on the door. I shook my head, turning around to continue what I was doing. The knock sounded on the door a second time, causing me to stop and turn immediately. "I think the guards are here. The vehicle entourage must be ready." Stefan was already making his way towards the door, probably thinking it was a guard. "Wait!" I called out, watching the door closely. He stopped in his tracks, glancing back at me. "Guards don't knock twice. This is someone else." I said, noting just how strange this was. He chuckled ruefully however, raising a brow but keeping his mouth shut. "It isn't funny." I said, before tilting my head to the side, asking him to open the door if he wanted. He pushed the bolt to the side and the door opened immediately. It was Amelia. Her sight had me smiling but I suppressed the smile immediately, catching myself reacting that way with her around. "Get in." I said, watching her closely. I noticed how she kept staring at me and her eyes dropped to my half-naked chest after lingering for a bit too long. The air was thick with silence as she stared at me. I tried to speak but the words stuck in my throat and all I could do was stare at her, as if her gaze had an effect on me. It was after I had noticed that Stefan was staring at us that I cleared my throat, breaking the weird trance she was caught in. "Why are you here?" I asked. But she turned away from me and turned Stefan who he greeted. I didn't bother repeating the question as I started to work on the remaining buttons of the shirt. I turned to see her staring up at me again, I was feeling a bit uneasy about her gaze. "What do you want?" I asked, but instead of answering my question, she dropped to her knees. My c**k twitched. "Thank you so much for everything you've done for me. I really appreciate everything you've done." She said, kneeling before me. I was about to tell her why she was on her knees and she was thanking me when I saw her lips quiver. She was even crying. I couldn't deny the fact that I felt a bit amused and uncomfortable watching her cry. "Why the hell are you crying?" My tone was sharper than intended and I took a step towards her, clearly surprised by what I was witnessing. I looked up to see Stefan equally surprised as well. He was rooted the spot and was staring at her. I wasn't prepared for any of what was happening now, it was safe to say I was completely caught off guard by all of this. "Stand up," I commanded, still staring down at her, but she hesitated. I didn't wait for her to comply but instead, I reached for her and grabbed her hand, pulling her up. She was sniffing as she stood before me, looking down on the floor. "You don't understand." She said, "this is the first time someone has done something like this for me. Even when I loved with my parents, I never got this privileged treatment, as it was only reserved for my sister. Thank you so much, I never expected I made a good choice when I made a deal with the devil." She said, a smile sifting through her lips as she looked up at me. I smiled at her joke and it wasn't long before a full-blown laughter erupted from my throat. But I recovered quickly, wiping the laughter off my face, wondering what was happening to me. I looked across to Stefan, and I could tell he felt the same way. I shook my head, wondering why I was losing more of my composure around her. Regaining composure, I straightened myself, noting that my fingers were hovering on her face. Brushing her cheeks slightly, I stared deep in her eyes. Our eyes locked, and I couldn't look away no matter how hard I tried, like there was an unspoken passion between us. It wasn't until Stefan cleared his throat that I looked away, noting how my heart rate had risen. "The vehicle entourage is ready for the journey, Alpha." He informed me, trying to sound as formal as possible in front of her. The door subsequently opened and guards walked into the room. I moved away from her, turning away to grab the tuxedo that was waiting by the hanger, when she asked. "Are you travelling?" I shook my head, turning to see her looking at the bags that had been readied. A part of me was itching to be harsh, to remind her that she had no damn right to question me. Instead, I muttered a yes before asking her to leave because I had to prepare. "OK." She said, flashing me another smile before starting for the door. However, she stopped once she got to the doorway and turned back again. "Thank you." She mumbled, and turned away before walking through the door. Stefan closed the door behind her and shook his head inquisitively while closing his arms. "What the hell just happened between you and your so-called wife?" I didn't reply. I guess some things were just better left unsaid.
