CHAPTER 18It was almost an hour after dawn but there was no sign of anybody near the cave. Lieutenant Almando had taken the cautious approach for he respected Meztli's ability with a musket. The entire area was surrounded and at the moment he was north of the pinnacles where he suspected she or some of her companions would be waiting to shoot them down. Of course, the situation was still in his control for they could not hold out for long before they ran out of ammunition and food.
He still favoured another agreement and had already raised his flag to indicate he wished to speak under another flag of truce.
