—MICHELE—
The cheek of that girl to come in here and try and tend to my enemies wounds, it infuriates me. How dare she go behind my back to help Ezio, I have inflicted these injuries for a reason! I sighed deeply and waited for the door to close at the top of the stairs. Once the echo of the door slamming entered my ears I turned to Ezio’s defeated body.
“Tell me where he is” I demanded, continuing my interrogation from yesterday.
“He’s my brother” he grumbled.
“Where is he?” I asked and Ezio looked away from me.
“Where... is he?!” I asked a second time, getting more frustrated by his stubbornness. He ignored me once again and I unlocked the cell door. He flinched as I charged towards him and then groaned from the pain of me gripping him by his neck.
“Were you in on it too?” I questioned and he flashed me a confused glance.
“My parents!” I yelled.
“What are you t...talking about?” His voice broke from the tightness of my grip. I threw him against the wall and growled impatiently.
“You know exactly what I’m f*****g talking about! Marcelo has told me everything!” I yelled.
“Marcelo?!”
“You’re brother killed my f*****g parents!” I yelled.
“What?!” He reacted and stared at the floor.
“Well, he’s either lying or I have been kept in the dark about this” he said finally after recovering from his contact with the wall.
“Don’t f*****g lie to me you were in on this together weren’t you?!” I yelled.
“As much as I want to hurt you Michele, I would never go after you’re mother. She was good to me in the past and if I knew anything about my brother’s deception then I would have handed him over to you to suffer the consequences” he admitted.
For some reason, I actually believed him. My mother was always respectful to Ezio and helped him whenever she could. She would go to his place and mother him after his parents died; she’d cook, give advice, clean and listen to Ezio’s problems.
“I would have stopped him!” he confessed.
“Even if it was Rickie who gave the order? I know how s**t scared you are of him Ezio” I scowled at him.
“Rickie was drunk on power, if I knew he was going for your mother I would have kept Matteo out of it completely, I might have even warned her” he finished. I turned to him and gritted my teeth together.
“So you know about this vendetta against my father then do you?”. He sighed deeply with guilt.
“Rickie wanted your dad to kill Lorenzo a long time ago before he was elected so that Rickie could become Mayor. He has so many allies and people working for him and he was sure to get the vote but he wanted your dad to do it because Lorenzo would never suspect that. Lorenzo was the only one who was more popular than he was so he saw him as a threat. When your dad refused, Rickie took it as an insult...” he explained.
“The day that your mother was murdered, I was with Rickie all day and not one of his men left he premises which is why I didn’t think it was him at first. But now that I think about it, my brother was acting very strange that day and was missing at the time of the assassination. A few days before I noticed he was talking to Rickie a lot when he visited to discuss a business proposal with me. My brother came into a lot of money all of a sudden and moved out of the main house to his own that he had bought. I didn’t think anything of it at the time but it all makes sense now”.
“So where is he?” I repeated my question and Ezio stared at me, begging me through his eyes not to make him betray his only brother. I continued to look at him sternly and he sighed.
“His house is deep in the woods by my place but it’s hard to find. He has a lot of security devises setup around it so it will be hard to get to him...” he confessed.
“But... if you let me go then... I will help you trap him” he said reluctantly. Is he just saying this so that I will let him go? I have never been able to trust Ezio and I’m not about to start.
“What’s in it for you?” I asked.
“Nothing” he shrugged and I sniggered mockingly.
“Isabella was nothing but nice to me and my family, the fact that my own flesh and blood killed her for money is disgusting. Matteo has been making a few bold moves against me lately and I’m starting to see his disloyalty emerge. If he’s capable of killing Isabella then he’s capable of anything” he explained.
I stood there for a moment and considered my options. If I let him go and he runs to Rickie then it will make things a whole lot worse, however if he is loyal and follows through with trapping his brother then I can not only get revenge but a load of information on Rickie too. It’s worth the risk in my opinion.
“I’ll think about” I snapped and locked the cell back up ready to leave the room.
“Michele” he called out before I could leave, I turned to face him.
“I’m a bit concerned about how Marcelo knew about all of this” he hinted.
“You knew about it” I reminded him and he shook his head.
“I only knew just put two and two together from what Marcelo had told you”
“What is it your trying to say Ezio?” I replied irritatingly.
“He knows a lot about the assassination of Isabella and the feud between your father and Rickie; there is only one way he could have known so much about it. What if he hasn’t been working for either of us... what if he’s working with Rickie?” He implied and my eyes widened.
As much as I hate Ezio, he is extremely clever when it comes to smelling out a rat. It would make sense considering how easily he has played both of us, maybe he has been reporting back to Rickie this whole time.
