CHAPTER NINE As Jared sat behind the wheel of the idling rental car two days later, the reality of what he’d inherited slammed into him. He gripped the gearshift. Forget speeding around town in his fully restored 1966, cherry-condition Corvette. He needed a family car like the minivan he’d imagined, but that wasn’t all.
