"Forever, amen." That was the end of the service. The church stood in harmony and everyone began to talk to their neigbours as they made their exit from the church.
I narrowed my eyes at the Turkey legs lady, strolling after Pastor Kent, who happened to be my husband, as he made his way to his office.
The pastor's office was strictly available to members who wanted nothing but to talk to him about their spiritual related problems. It was not open to any random woman in a pink skirt, high heels and a supermodel body.
"That was a powerful service, don't you think?" Natalie called from behind me, fanning her face with her hands. "I was so blessed!" She exclaimed but I was not paying any attention. Instead, I had my mind on the way my husband and the strange lady laughed over a matter.
What were they laughing at? I had so many questions to ask.
"Natalie, take the kids home, I will be with you shortly." I ordered my younger sister, whom lived with us in our three bedroom apartment, so she could watch over the kids while I was at work.
"But where are you going?" She wondered. I continued down to his office, ignoring her irrelevant question.
I placed my ear against the door once I was there to see if I would catch what they were discussing but I successfully heard nothing.
If I knocked, if he was grinding himself into her like I suspected, they would successfully have enough time to end things before answering to me and so I twisted the door knob and waited for it to budge before pushing my way inside.
There she was, her knees on the floor and her body arched as she bent over while he stood behind her.
My wife nerves were activated in that instant moment and I charged towards this snake of a woman and pushed her with all my might. She screamed in shock as she fell to the floor.
"Jesus, Indan!" Kent exclaimed from behind us.
I paid no attention to his cries and packed a handful of the w***e's hair in my hands. She had to stand to her feet from the way I pulled so hard. Her screams were enough to alert everyone that lurked around but I could not care less. If Kent did not want me to act the way I did, then he had to learn to quit going after everything in a skirt.
"Leave my husband alone!" I shook the shoulders of the strange lady, pushing her against a wall. "Please, let him love his wife and be a great father to his children." I began to sob. Kent gripped my waist from behind and managed to pull me from the woman, causing me to involuntarily let her go.
I clapped my hands and kept my palms glued together, facing her. "Please."
The woman stared at me like I was insane. It was true, I was.
"Indan!" Kent's voice snapped me back into the present. "What are you doing?" He wasted no time on me and hurried towards her. "I am so sorry Miss Smith, I'm sorry for any embarrassment this has caused you." He apologized to her.
"It- it's fine Pastor." She lied, stuttering and still trying to get herself together. "I'll leave, we will continue the rest of our discussion on the phone."
"No you will not." I spoke on his behalf, "if you don't let him alone, I'm going to get you arrested." I threatened. She picked her purse that had fallen to the floor during my attack.
"I will talk to you over the phone Miss Smith." Kent led her to the door. She hurried out of his office like a tornado had swept in.
Once the door was closed and it was just us two in his office, he glared at me like I had sprouted a new head.
He picked up his suitcase and acted like I was absent. "Aren't you going to explain yourself Kent? This is the church, what is wrong with you? Can't you contain yourself in the lord's presence?"
"Explain what Indan, tell me, what do I have to explain here?" He stood in front of me in anger. "Explain that I was hoping to have a meeting with a representative from the orphanage? Explain that the church was going to donate food and other essential items to them?" He said in the harshest tone I had ever heard from him.
He continued to pack whatever he needed to take home and did so with visible veins all over him. He was burning, but so was I.
"She was bending in front of you Kent, you looked like you were about to have s*x in a doggy position!" I waved my hands in front of me like a crazy creature.
"Yes she was going to pick her pen that had rolled under the desk, thank you for caring to ask." He began to make his way towards the door.
"Kent, you can't blame me for-" I followed behind him. He turned around on his heels and interrupted whatever I had to say.
"Indan, we have been over this billions of time. I really don't know what you want me to do anymore. I don't know what you are so insecure about." He folded his arms across his chest.
"You didn't carry two children in your womb only to gain a hundred pounds after, and be unable to lose them. You did not try your best to look beautiful to impress anyone since God has blessed you with the perfect figure..." I began to count the list off my fingers but he cut me short.
"But I knew who you were before I married you. I loved your body for what it is and still married you." He turned around once more and continued walking. "I'm sorry but if this goes on, then maybe this is where we have to end things. If we were meant to be, then we would." With that, he disappeared from my sight, leaving me in the office and slamming the door hard.
I stood still, frozen in place and tried to process his last words. There was no way Kent would divorce me, was there?
