Evangeline’s POV I took Ora to the room that Edgar and I shared the last time I was here. I left some of my belongings here, including the package I had for Ora. The room still smelled like Edgar, which comforted me. I sat Ora on the bed and knelt on the floor in front of her. I took hold of her hands and I poured my heart out. I told her how much we both loved her and how much it hurt to send her away. How Edgar and I regretted our decision every day. I put my face in her lap and cried. I couldn’t believe we were finally together. Ora stroked my hair and reassured me that although she was isolated, she lived a carefree life. “Sure, there was the occasional bully. But she was never scared.” She snickered. “Other than when Aunt Jo was mad. I was scared then. Everyone was scared then.”
