“What did you just say? I don’t think I heard you correctly.”
She looked at Maddie for the first time. Her eyes could not be more open.
Selena almost laughed.
Maddie blinked a few times before she pulled herself together.
“What did I miss? How could you possibly be in love with him?”
“That’s what I’d like to know. I mean, I tried so hard not to.” Selena sighed.
“Wait, wait, wait. Go back to the beginning. Last time I checked, you were going on a date with Robbie and you hated Lucas.”
“I mean, I also don’t understand. He pisses me off and sometimes I swear that I hate him, but I can't deny what I feel every time I see him.”
