My insomnia is creeping back. After a few weeks of good sleep, I suddenly can’t keep my eyelids shut. I guess the incident from earlier shook me up a bit more than it did her. She is right here in my arms. Yet the moment I close my eyes, I get an image of her lifeless body bleeding out on some cold pavement. If the men who followed her tonight had caught up and hurt her, I would have burned this city to the ground. But even that wouldn’t rid me of the guilt. I should have held on tighter.
