Chapter 2Saturday morning was bright and reasonably warm for early March as five young men got out of the cab at the marina where Tyler kept his boat. Each of them carried a backpack with a sleeping bag strapped to the top or bottom. Jake and Dave also had duffle bags holding the equipment they’d bought to use while exploring the island. Neil seemed a bit nonplussed when he looked at the boat, asking Bart, “Is it big enough for all of us?” Tyler, who was waiting on deck, replied tartly before Bart could. “It can seat six comfortably between the cabin and the deck, and with the stateroom it can sleep all of us, too, since we’re using sleeping bags, so that would be a yes.” Neil flushed with embarrassment, earning him a commiserating pat on the shoulder from Bart before everyone boarded.
