Playing two more games of laser tag, I was so ready for an early sleep tonight. Alex kicked my butt in both but as we drove home from the arena, I was feeling more at ease than I’d felt all day. Alex had proved to be a really good friend to me today, and maybe that’s why as I leaned against the car window I felt compelled to say what came next. “My mom left me, well my dad and I, when I was a baby,” I confessed, “So now it’s just him and I at home.
