Chapter 4: Five Years of Longing, Tears Flow at Reunion

"Sir, this time, no matter what, do not stop me. Regardless of who it is, even if it's the most powerful person, I will destroy anyone who dares to harm the little princess."
At the hotel entrance, little Sienna was once again held by Xavier, burying her small head tightly in his arms. Xander was furious, a fierce, threatening presence emanating from him.
"She's already been dealt with, no need to act further."
Xavier waved his hand.
Although the middle-aged woman seemed to have fainted from a single kick, in truth, in his anger, the force of that kick had already left her badly hurt, and she would not recover easily.
"Sir, what about Sophie? Why is the little princess like this..." Xander was still unable to calm his anger.
"I haven't seen Sophie yet..."
Xavier sighed slightly, recounting the events at the hotel to Xander, then calmly said, "Send a message to the Rivers family, telling the family head to come and apologize on their knees within three days."
"Sir, just a mere young master of the Rivers family dares to be so arrogant. Why wait three days? I will go and wipe out the Rivers family now," Xander said angrily.
"You're doing it again."
Xavier's expression showed a hint of anger, "If you dare to interfere in my matters like this again, you can go back to Northia."
"Yes, I... I won't dare anymore." Xander quickly lowered his head.
Xavier's expression softened slightly. While holding his slightly sleepy daughter, he asked, "How is the gift I asked you to send to the Lewis family coming along?"
"It's already being prepared. There's also something else to report to you. The richest man in Cloud City is named Daniel. He was once a deputy officer in Northia. Later, due to injuries during the war, he was granted special permission to return home and start a business, while secretly gathering intelligence and resources."
Xander spoke respectfully, "I thought that in Cloud City, since you don't want me to kill and destroy families at will, I went to find him. After all, he has some influence here. I asked him to help deliver the gift to the Lewis family, and it should be delivered by tomorrow at the latest."
Xavier frowned slightly, "Does he know that I'm here?"
"He doesn't know. I didn't mention it, but I guess he might figure it out later," Xander said.
"Never mind, in this Cloud City, there are some things that require his help. It's fine if he knows."
Xavier nodded, and the little Sienna in his arms had already fallen asleep. He said no more and directly took the little girl into the hotel to sleep.
Xander, the burly man, hurriedly followed to help.
Two big men, great at fighting, but when it comes to taking care of a child, they were indeed a bit clumsy.
After finally settling the little girl, they were already sweating profusely.
"It seems that tomorrow I should take my daughter to find Sophie. I wonder how she is doing."
Xavier murmured, thinking of his wife who had been raising their daughter alone for five years, enduring the hardships imposed by Lucy, a terrible mother-in-law. His heart couldn't help but ache.
Looking at his daughter's sleeping face, Xavier's eyes showed a determined look, and he vowed in his heart, "My daughter, you're my little princess, the most precious in the world. I'll spend the rest of my life making it up to you both, ensuring you and your mom are the happiest people alive!"

The next morning.
It was a clear, breezy morning.
In the old courtyard, four people, including Sophie's sister Serena, got up early to have breakfast.
Sophie had fainted when she heard Xavier took their daughter. Although she woke up shortly after, she hadn't slept all night, and her spirits were not good.
Lucy, on the other hand, was full of energy and neatly dressed, instructing the two sisters, "Hurry up, finish eating and go get ready."
"Mom, is there a guest coming?" Serena asked, puzzled.
"Just do it, no need for all the questions." Lucy glared at her.
However, before the sisters could take any action, there was a knock at the door, and Lucy was overjoyed, quickly going to open it.
"Why are you here?"
As soon as the door opened and she saw who it was, Lucy's face immediately darkened.
The person knocking was Xavier, holding his daughter. At this moment, little Sienna's face was filled with excitement, having seemingly forgotten that her grandmother tried to sell her the day before, and she sweetly called out, "Grandma."
"Sienna."
Inside, Sophie heard her daughter's name and rushed out, immediately seeing Xavier standing at the door.
At that moment, it felt like she had been struck by lightning, and she stood frozen in place.
The air seemed to freeze as they locked eyes.
"Sophie, I'm back." Xavier's voice trembled, his eyes slightly red, with tears glistening.
"You..."
When the calm was broken, the imagined scene of tearful embrace did not occur. Instead, Sophie took a deep breath, first taking little Sienna from Xavier's arms and handing her to her sister Serena, "Take Sienna to the room."
Then, she suddenly slammed the door in Xavier's face.
Bam!
She used a lot of force, and the sound of the iron door hitting the frame was loud, like a hammer blow to Xavier's heart.
He stood there for a while, unable to help but shake his head with a bitter smile, "Five years of hurt is a lot to bear. I understand your hatred, and I will wait here for you to open the door."
He said nothing more, just stood quietly.
For five years, they had been worlds apart, and now a door stood between them.
So close, yet so far.
Inside, Sophie slid down to the floor, leaning against the door.
Tears blurred her vision as she cried silently.
Five years ago, she walked down the aisle with him in a white wedding dress, feeling like the happiest woman in the world.
However, halfway through the ceremony, Xavier abruptly left, leaving her alone to face the abandoned wedding scene and the mocking gazes of the guests...
Her parents and relatives all told her that his relationship with her was all a conspiracy to gain the support of the Lewis family. Now, he was unwilling to let go of the Sophie&Xavier Group and wanted to secretly take everything from it, even harming the Lewis family. When discovered, he fled in a hurry.
At first, she didn't believe it and hoped day and night that Xavier would return to explain.
But he didn't!
For five years, she endured scorn while raising their child alone.
Just when she had finally gotten used to such a life, Xavier appeared!
The wound was reopened, raw and brutal.
Sophie gritted her teeth, wiped away her tears, and suddenly flung the door open, her face full of resentment as she growled, "Why, why did you come back now?"
"Five years, I finally convinced myself to think of you as dead, and now why have you appeared?"
"Why? Why do you want to hurt me like this?"
Her anguished cry vented all the pain she had endured over these five years.
"Couldn't hack it out there, and now you want to mooch off the Lewis family?" Lucy said sinisterly from the side.
"Shut up." Xavier's sharp gaze shot over, and Lucy felt a shiver run down her spine, not daring to speak again.
Xavier stepped forward, looked at Sophie with gentle eyes, and said warmly, "You've suffered these past five years. From now on, I'll protect you and our daughter, and make you the happiest people in the world."
"Ha, you think you can make Sophie happy? What makes you think that?"
At this moment, a disdainful laugh came from not far away, and a young man in a white suit, holding a bouquet of flowers, stepped down from a BMW worth a fortune.
"Ah, my future son-in-law is here!"
Lucy was immediately overjoyed.
