Chapter 5Finding the Soporific Sage flower was easy enough. Since it was growing in lush bunches behind a local drugstore, after Ashleigh’d picked several handfuls and added it to her backpack, all she had to do was go into the store and find several different kinds of drinks that she could add the flower to for a way to drug the officer at the police station. She wasn’t sure who would be waiting for her when she arrived again—perhaps Officer Johnson would be on vacation, and some rookie would be behind the desk instead—so she expanded her drink options and paid for it with her old credit card. She winced as the card went through the machine, but it cleared easily. With the motel bill and this eating up her old line of credit, she had a feeling she would need cash for the next transaction.
