I crouched in the small, dark closet, feeling the rough wood pressing against my back. Yet that was the least of my concerns. Outside, a battle was brooding. All because someone wanted me dead. I tried to think through on what I had done in my life to deserve this. I’m scared for my life, I can’t move no matter how much I want to. My heart pounded in my chest. It felt like an eternity had passed since Mia had left me here. I strained to hear any sound, any indication that it was safe to come out, but there was nothing. The house was eerily quiet, I was all alone.
Tears streamed down my face, and I hugged my knees to my chest, trying to make myself as small as possible. My mind raced with fear and confusion. Where was everyone? What was happening?
The silence was unbearable.
