Elena's POV
A short walk past the house made me feel like my feet knew where I was going before I did. I was aware of what was happening, but I couldn't control it. It felt like being paralyzed, only my body was actually moving. My skin felt like it was burning, with Grandma El's persona hijacking me, sitting on my shoulders like an elephant.
She entered a room at the far south of the compound, Alexi and my mom's room. I was panicking, but she operated like she didn't know I was in here. I was trapped in my own mind. Entombed in madness and darkness, my biggest fears. I couldn't feel Declan anymore. My connection with my mate felt severed. Pain clawed at my heart, and I swallowed a lump in my throat as I watched through the windows of my eyes.
I had never known my grandmother until now.
