CHAPTER 4: I’M NOT CORDELIA

LILAC I looked around. All I saw was greenery, and I should have been scared to enter the place, but I felt a strong connection to this place. It’s like I’m a part of it, and I feel comforted by that feeling. “It feels very familiar, but I don’t remember much.” I answered Nina’s question. We got out, and so did the others. I saw Senna being carried out of the car as she was unconscious. I quickly approached them and checked on Senna. “Is she okay? What happened to her?” “She was unconscious when I found her. I think they drugged her to prepare her for departure with the people who bought her,” the man they kept calling Alpha answered my question. I inched closer to him, “Is she going to be okay?” He gave a slight nod, “I’ll have our doctors check on her just to be sure but don’t worry. I think she’s just asleep.” My worries lightened after hearing his response. “Thank you. Thank you so much.” It’s only been a few hours since we met, but I would have been lost more than I already am if it hadn’t been for Senna. Blake looked surprised by my response. He cleared his throat and said, “The cars could only park here, and we had to go to the pack house on foot. Can you run with us? I know you’re still weak from that restricting spell they used on you.” “Pack house?” I looked at him with squinted eyes.  He pointed ahead, and I saw a huge house ahead after tracing the direction he was pointing. It looked far, but I could see it clearly. I wanted to be surprised, but I’ve experienced far more surprising things today. I turned back to them, “But that looks far. Wouldn’t it take us a couple of hours just to get there?” Again, I received alienated stares after my question. Blake let out a sigh. He sounded so exhausted. There were bags under his eyes, too. I guess they really went through a lot just to find Cordelia.  “You really can’t remember anything.” He turned away from me and lowered himself, “Explanations could go later. Get on my back and I’ll just carry you.” I felt embarrassed but had no choice but to do as he instructed. His scent wafted in my senses. The familiarity was a tad bit comforting, but it was still embarrassing. They all started running after he told me to hold on tight, and it made me recall the one time I tried to ride a roller coaster. No wonder they looked at me strangely when I said it would take us a couple of hours because we were already in front of the house, around ten minutes or probably even less. Blake gently put me down while I wondered why I wasn’t dizzy from all that. My head still hurts, but that was because of earlier. More people welcomed us, all asking if we were alright, but I couldn’t answer and might have smiled awkwardly until Blake brought me inside. I had never had a lot of people very concerned about me before. Some elders looked at me with either tired or pissed-off expressions but didn’t say anything. Aside from that, they all looked worried. I was led inside, and the doctors checked on us. They kept asking me what happened, but I couldn’t answer most of their questions. I wanted to, but I didn’t understand more than half of their question. I could tell they knew something was odd with me apart from losing my memory. Of course. I was a totally different person. I felt guilty for lying, but I didn’t know what they would do if I told them the truth. “The Fae is going to be alright. She’ll wake up in an hour or two. Do you want me to lead you to your room?” Kana, one of the doctors, asked me. “I live here?” I couldn’t help but ask. She closed her eyes for a moment, “Sorry. I forgot that you have no memories. Yes. You live here as it was the white wolf’s duty to stay close to her pack’s territory at all times. Anyway, you seem very worried about this girl. You can also stay here if you want. Nina would fill you in.” I smiled, “I prefer to stay. Thank you for helping.” Once again, she looked surprised by my response, but she promptly left, leaving me and unconscious Senna alone. “We were still lucky, I guess,” I mumbled, tucking the strays of hairs on her face to her ear. I saw defeat in her eyes earlier. She is terrified of what will happen to her, but she has already given up. Both of us could have gotten in a bad place if Blake and his people didn’t save us. My mind wandered for a moment. I can’t forget that man’s gaze, the one they called the demon alpha. There was something entirely different about him. A part of me was dead terrified, but another part wanted to know more about him. My train of thought was quickly cut when Senna suddenly got up from the bed as if nothing had happened. I grasped my chest, trying to get over my surprise. They said she’ll be up in an hour or two. How come she’s already awake? “Are you feeling alright?” I asked, but she only looked at me with a confused expression. I pointed outside, “I should call the doctor to get you checked out. Do you want some water?” She grabbed my forearm and stopped me from leaving. “Wait.” Her eyes gleamed for a split second before letting out a small gasp. “You’re telling the truth. You’re not Cordelia. You’re not from this world either. How is that possible?” She mumbled with realization. There was a spark of hope that ignited in my heart. Maybe Senna could help me go back. I’m thankful for being saved, but I don’t belong in this place. I held her hand, desperate for help. “Yes. Everything I said earlier was true. I’m Lilac, I am not Cordelia. Do you know how I can go back to… my world?” Senna motioned for me to be quiet, “Keep it low. Werewolves have enhanced senses. Someone might hear you. I couldn’t sense it earlier because of the shackles they put on us, but now I can clearly sense it. Your body and soul don’t match, but souls don’t easily jump from one body to another. I didn’t know it was possible in the first place.” “I was drowning, then I saw a woman who was telling me things but I don’t remember everything clearly. All I know is that she pulled me out of the water and then I wake up in that cage. Senna, I don’t belong here. Please help me go back. Please, I have to go back to my real body.” I muttered, still hoping that she could help me. She pressed her lips. “Sorry, but I don’t have that power. I don’t think any other supernatural creature could do that.” “Then who is that person that did this to me? I don’t understand why she this to me.” Senna shook her head, “I don’t know what you did, but I think it’s a deity that saved you.”
