The Dragon Lady

FEELING very good that morning, a freshly showered Basha entered the kitchen of her parents’ house. The house of the former alpha of the Brave Heart pack was a few minutes away from the current alpha. Her alpha brother did not want to live far away from their parents. Unlike Charlie, who built his abode with his mate of ten years nearby the Kalayaan village. A frown marred her face when she smelt a familiar scent. She found her alpha brother at the dining table. He was holding a sandwich in one hand while the other has a mug of coffee. Derick was having a conversation with their father who also has a slice of bread in between his hands. “Good morning, Blaire!” The former alpha greeted cheerfully. He was the only one among the family members who called her with her second name. She learned that she was named after his younger sister who died at a very young age due to a rogue attack. “Good morning, Bash. Have a bite.” She sniffed. Anger flared inside her when she confirmed the suspicion she has on her head. “Who opened the jar?! Dammit!” She bellowed in the kitchen. The two men stared at her in surprise. They stilled while looking at her angry face. She marched toward them. The familiar jar was on the nearby kitchen counter. Beside it was half a loaf of bread and ca spoon with the smear of the jam. Swiftly, she grabbed the half-empty jar. She wanted to cry at the sight. Yesterday, she placed the jam at the very back of the cupboard to make sure that no one will find it. Despite her brothers having their own house, they visited often and eat in their parent’s house like they used to. “It’s just a jam, Bash.” Derick reasoned out. “It’s not! Did you get it from the cupboard?” He nodded. “I was hungry. I didn’t know that it was yours. I’ll buy you a couple of jars.” “There’s nothing like this in the store.” She yelled as she glared at him. “W-what?” “It not available in the store yet. It’s homemade.” “Really? But it was good. It’s sweeter than the one I’m used to but this is good.” Her dad commented after he finished the bread in his hand. She scowled at the older man. She strode to his brother and seized the half-eaten sandwich in his hand. She finished it in two bites. “Hey!” “It’s mine.” Mouth full, she said it to his face before leaving them. She was hugging the small jar in her body. She was still chewing the sandwich in her mouth. She huffed when she remembered the sight of the jam. She hid the jar inside her shirt. Basha went back to the kitchen. Still wearing an angry face, she gazed at the two men who were still sporting stunned faces. She grabbed the bread on the counter together with the spoon beside it. “Can I have a piece? Please.” “No!” She answered her brother before leaving again. Basha went to the living room. She was muttering under her breath. She occupied a seat. She placed the jar on the coffee table. She took two slices of bread and carefully spread the jam on top of it. Salivating at the sandwich in front of her, she delicately laid the other piece of slice on top of the bread with the jam. She held the sandwich in front of her. She sniffed the sweet peanut butter. The scent of the jam reminded her of her mate’s gentle smile and pretty face. She closed her eyes before making a bite. With her eyes closed, she chewed slowly and savor the taste. Her eyes opened instantly when the sandwich was taken from her. The culprit was sitting on the other chair. Charlie smirked at her. He finished the sandwich in three bites. “That was good. It’s a different peanut butter though. Mama bought a new brand?” Like a madwoman, she yelled a battle cry before she attacked the beta. She pulled his hair and smashed his head at the back of the chair where he seated. Charlie was taken aback that he only made a cry of pain as she pounced on him. “How could you take food from your sister?!” She pulled his hair. “You could have asked, jerkface! Didn’t mama teach you?” “Dad!” He cried. “Get this mad woman away from me.” That was the simple rule in the house. No one was allowed to hurt the baby sister even if she was at fault. Their mother will reprimand her. And their mother, the Luna, was the law in the house. Even the former alpha himself has to follow the house rules. Basha felt herself being lifted from Charlie. She tried to wiggle her way from the arms that were caging her. “What is wrong with you?!” The beta complained at the madwoman. “Blaire, stop!” She halted from squirming. Their father was in between her and Charlie. “It’s alright, Basha.” Derick whispered in her ear softly. “What did you do this time?” The former alpha asked his second child. The stunned beta shook his head. “I did nothing. She attacked me. I was just sitting here.” “Sitting? You are a caveman! You steal my food.” She screamed. “What?! It was just a piece of bread.” “It’s not, moron. It’s my sandwich, my food, my jam!” “W-what?” The flabbergasted man turned to the two other men in the living room. Like the understanding older brother that he was, Derick picked up the jar of jam and the loaf. He gave them to the family’s only princess. “I’m sorry. Please tell her that I’m going to buy two jars. My kids will love them, too.” The alpha smiled at his youngest sibling with understanding. Basha’s face softens. She sighed. She nodded before pulling her breakfast closer to her body. “What the hell?” Charlie muttered in disbelief.  “Mama told us to share.” She sent her other brother a glare. “I will tell mama that you steal my food. I will tell her that all of you steal my jam.” She glimpses at the two other men. “Hey!” “Shut up, you thief!” “Blaire, let’s talk about this.” “No! It was you who eat half of the jam. I saw the sandwich you made. It was soggy with peanut butter. It’s not good for your sugar.” She accused her father. “I’ll buy you another jar, honey.” “I told you, it’s not available in the market.” “I will tell all of your mates not to have s*x with you for a week. Now we're all even.” She spats. “No talk about s*x in front of me!” The former alpha nagged. “Dad, Basha is old enough.” Charlie opposed. “She will have a mate soon.” “No s*x in front of Blaire. That’s an order!” She made a face before leaving the men of her family. While making her way to the bedroom, she mind linked her sisters-in-law about their mates. She made sure that she locked the door before settling on the study table. A smirk formed on her lips when she heard her brothers calling her name in irritation. Their mates must have sent them a link. Feeling better with the revenge she made, her eyes went to the jam. The jam was less than half of the jar. She pouted in annoyance at the members of her family. She made herself another sandwich with sadness.
