Chapter 2

Jaxon's POV

"You may find your mate," Dad growled.

"I don't want dad, Mates are useless. I need someone who is an Alpha's daughter. Who can fight and defend herself. Veronica is our pack's best warrior" I tried to get it into his thick head.

My dad wants me to wait for my mate. And he says that mates are sacred. Sacred my foot. They pull you down with emotional drama. You can't give your whole to some mere woman. And I want my pack to be the strongest. If Luna is strong, the pack would be strong. If Luna is a cabbage, then you're ruling a f*****g garden!

Oh Jaxon! Where did that come from? Paying attention to your English classes eh?!

And I've known Veronica since forever. She's good both at fighting and also giving me pleasure. So I want to mark her and make her a Luna.My Luna. Veronica is also a power hungry lady. So it's a win-win situation for both of us. I take the pleasure and pups,she takes the title and power. As simple as it is!

Dad growled and left the room and so did I.My wolf Mason is so excited today and I still don't know what's wrong with him. He has been jumping in my mind for no reason. He can be a bit useless sometimes. So I blocked him out.

I came out of the pack house only to see Veronica. In a short tight black dress. High heels. And her signature red lipstick. Her smirk showed me that she's trying to lure me.

I instantly trapped her in between my arms and started kissing her. I licked her bottom lip asking for entrance which she gladly gave and I started exploring her mouth with my active tongue. Her moans made me kiss harder, I held her hair pulling her impossibly close towards me.

Then a heavenly smell hit me, cinnamon and chocolate. That was so addictive. And that moment was when Mason broke the walls in my mind and screamed

"Mate!”

My eyes went wide and I broke the kiss only to see around trying to figure out who my mate was. My eyes met a familiar pair of brown ones. And tears threatening to spill from those brown eyes. She's my mate. And she saw me kissing another girl. I can't understand why but I felt a pang in my heart. But I let her go. By her aura I know that she doesn't have any rank in our pack.The fact that I am noticing now that she is someone from my pack says she is someone not so important.

She ran into a random direction, little sobs coming from her. But I made no move to go back to her. This is what mates do to us. Looking at them cry, your heart becomes weak. I don't want that. Like, who the hell wants to get themselves whipped for a girl? That too of no rank? Definitely not me.

"Jaxon" I heard Tyler calling me.

Tyler is my best friend and the beta's son. Today along with me, he's gonna take up the responsibility of the pack as my beta. He's like a part of me.

"Man! You found your mate?" He asked me wide eyed.

"Jeez, Yeah. And don't f*****g tell anyone." I said walking towards the stage. Tyler there, can read me like an open book. So I didn't bother asking him how he found out. He just does anyways.

I was called upon stage and I found myself searching through the crowd for my mate. I can't help but look for her. I found Veronica waving at me and I managed to throw her a wink.

Soon, the ceremony came to an end and everyone started having dinner at the barbeque. I still don't know why I don't have any appetite. My favorite food, the lasagne, is right before me but I just don't feel like eating anything.

"I hate mates," I muttered to myself.

"Is there any problem,honey?" Veronica asked me seductively. I smirked knowing what I gotta do to divert my mind from my mate.

I dragged her to my bedroom and pushed her to the wall. She gasped and I took that opportunity to shove my tongue into her mouth and kiss her harder. Her hands roamed all over my body and I knew what was coming.

"Babe. It's morning" Veronica said, shaking me from my sleep.

"Just find your way out babe." I said I was still sleepy.

"Yeah. I'm leaving but don't be late for school. It's the project submission day. Mrs.Celine.. Ugh that b***h doesn't take any excuse" she said before leaving. Does she really have to bring that up early in the morning?

I groaned and woke up. I made my way into the shower and rinsed all the s*x smell off my body. I got ready, had breakfast and started off to school in my car with Tyler beside me.

We both were walking in the school hallways and my mate's smell filled my nose again. I turned around and bumped into someone. I looked who that was and found familiar brown orbs looking at me. Her eyes held happiness. I don't know if that was genuine or just the mate bond. But then, I saw her eyes were almost teary. And a tinge of betrayal in them. She felt betrayed. I did that after all. Kissing a girl in front of a mate. That isn't the way supposed to meet your mate first time

I didn't say anything and I just left from there.

"You fucktard! Mia is your mate???" Tyler asked me.

"Yeah. And what's your problem with that?" I asked him not knowing what he was trying to imply.

"She's my crush dude" Tyler said and I felt the world stop moving for a minute.

He has a crush on my mate?? No! This can't be. My best friend has a crush on my f*****g mate??? Is the moon goddess crazy?
