The sun's rays had just begun to slip through the curtains of our room, casting soft shadows on the walls. Cassandra slept beside me, her breathing calm and steady. My heart swelled seeing her there, serene, unaware of the whirlwind of emotions that still enveloped me. I still couldn’t believe what had happened yesterday: she had confessed her feelings for me in front of our families, and most importantly, her “I love you” kept resonating in my head, as if it were the first time anyone had said those words to me.
I had spent so much time dreaming of that moment, but nothing had prepared my heart for the reality of hearing it come from her lips. I was still struggling to process it, but one thing was certain: my life had changed forever.
