SARAH MILLER: She has always been a good girl, doing what was expected of her and fully expecting life to fall into place in its turn. But when her perfect husband turns out to be a lying, cheating, despicable person, Sarah kicks him to the curb and embarks on the journey of her life on her own terms. With a new apartment, a new career, and a brand new outlook towards life, Sarah is all set to take the world by storm.
But this could be possible if only the world would stop placing fresh hurdles and obstacles in her path.
Everyone had warned Sarah Miller an estate agent, a novice, that the real-estate business is a very risky thing, where people are always competing strongly and unfairly, without considering any harm caused to others. But Sarah does not think she is supposed to take the warning literally...until one fine morning she receives a phone call sending her to an empty house on the other side of the town, where she finds herself standing next to her competitor Diana Walter, but the only irony is that she is lying dead there, and Sarah is not alone, but standing face to face with the boy her mother Adriana, always warned her about.
RYAN JACKSON: His other name is trouble, with a capital 'T.' He is tall, handsome, dark, and dangerous. He has a questionable past, and probably no future. He is not the kind of guy, a damsel would want to tangle with, in any way. But it so happens that wherever Sarah turns, he makes his presence felt, and makes no bones about what he wants from her.
Sarah has to now figure out who killed real estate queen Diana Walter; along with making a success of her new career, and also avoid getting killed; or kissed by the devil 'Ryan.' But she has to be very quick and do that before the money in her savings account gets exhausted, and she has to go back to being a sales-girl at a boutique. ************
When Sarah Miller's fellow Realtor and a very good friend, Yana Turner, is robbed during an open house, Sarah rushes to the rescue with tea and lots of sympathies, and then a really good lunch and a shoulder for her to cry on. However, Yana seems to be more annoyed and irritated, rather than desolate. Her main complaint was that the sexy robber who tied her to a couch in the living room, for her own good, did not follow her suggestion to tie her to the bed instead.
Yana's description of the man perfectly fits Sarah's old school-mate, Ryan Johnson. Ryan has recently turned up in Sarah's life again, and he could carry out a bit of housebreaking and entering.
Kansas City, Missouri, Detective Tanya Hudson agrees, and when Yana turns up dead, tied to her bed, and strangled, Ryan becomes a suspect.
Now Sarah must get busy finding the real murderer before Detective Tanya Hudson can arrest the wrong man.
