Amelia POV My office's door slammed with inexplicably force and I stared at Ann, who was frowning and puffing. "I swear I can't stand him. How could you even liked this man? How could John have such a d**k for a best friend?" I smiled amused and raised my brows in question, leaving my work and leaning on the backrest. "Well, he is a d**k only with us, otherwise he's known as a very decent man, you know that." She kept puffing and sighing and I laughed out loud. "You should bear any trouble or inconvenience for the sake of the new love." She rolled her eyes at me and I laughed again. "Well, John is a good man. He have a great reputation. Just ignore Zander. Besides, he has his reasons to be a dick." She eyed me carefully. "You sounds like you still like him..." "I do, I mean, It's awful what he did on the engagement day, but I know he is not like that. He's just hurting." I saw her look and sighed. "Don't stare at me like that.I would never want him the way I did, but still, he's not a bad person. He lost his parents." "I may sound like a very bad person, but that happened three years ago, Isn't it time for him to move on?" "Not If the reasons for their disappearance are living happy and freely among us." "Do you think It was Owens's job? It's like there were no criminals before them." "I don't know. I guess he knows something we don't and I won't be surprise If it was their job. " "I think you're way better parson then him. Even after his hostility towards you, you're still trying to understand him." "But I know he didn't do anything bad and he thinks I'm Owens's partner." "And why is that?" She looked at me meaningfully. "I'll never get tired to tell you to stop protecting your sister." "And I'll never get tired to tell you I'll never stop. She's my sister. Like you. Now get up and leave me to work." She smiled at me then came around the desk and kissed me on the cheek. I got up and hugged her, then got to work again. This time she closed the door without making any noise. ... Richard POV Two days later was the annual Albertine's Fair, and I still haven't solved the mystery, surrounding the baby's disappearance. The Black Blade kept pressing on us. Not finishing a deal, when dealing with organ trafficking is like signing your death warrant. Failure to complete the transaction within the required time meant death for the client and at least one grieving and angry relative, who already knew some information about our channel of work. I tried to improve our work by increasing security. I thought I had succeeded, but the incident with the baby showed me that I was wrong somewhere. No doubt we had some breakthrough and this time I had to make sure that the problem did not come once again from my stupid son Jack. There was no time to correct our mistake, so we had to quickly make a shot to compensate. This time I think I will do it surprisingly, because there is no time to look for the mole. Searching for the baby will only bring us problems. I just have to plan my next move and strike sooner. In a small town like Albertine such kind of incidents could quickly become suspicious. So we must always make it like a normal bad luck of an incident. The baby's disappearing could turn in our favor. The very first day that arrogant s**t Zander pressed charges against us on the behalf of the baby's family. The mother showed there too, but I didn't heard more about it. Now I can't wait to see his face, when the investigators could not find anything related to our family. Maybe this time I would have to choose someone who is not popular, has no relatives and there will be no one on our heels. We need calmness and an easy prey. Soon. I have no doubt. Soon I will make my biggest strikes and finally I'll have what is mine.
