Amelia POV I went home and as I passed the great hall, I saw that Charles was still here. But for now I had no desire to speak with him. I went up my room and decided to take a bath. After releasing the water, I sat in the tub and allowed myself to cry. Sometimes the tension from this whole situation was suffocating me. I felt very tired. I wish I had enough evidence to go to the authorities and get it over with. Sometimes I also wished I could stop protecting my sister so I could tell people I have nothing to do with the Owens. Where did this passion of hers came from years ago? I keep wondering what she sees in this bastard Jackson. He took advantage of her naivety and stupidity. I rinsed myself and left the bathroom. As much as I was tired and wanted to go to bed and not get up for days, I had too much work to do. Owens have not made a hit in almost two months, which is the longest period so far. The tension of whether they would succeed and when it would happen was eating away at my sleep. I had a person embedded among them, of course. As I knew they have moles here. By watching my sister, I was able to reveal most of their people and be careful what I revealed to them. I was sure they hadn't figured out who my man was yet. He has been implemented among them for about two years. It was a long and difficult process, but so far everything was going according to the plan. It worried me that they liked to surround themselves with new people so they could leave fewer traces. But apparently those they trusted stayed around longer. So it was with Arthur. In the beginning he was their executor and he was assigned more difficult tasks, he had a main role and in order to gain their trust, he had to make things he won't even consider in normal circumstances. For a long time now, their work has been done by new people, which makes it very difficult to gather information. My sister's presence at home also made it difficult for me. I knew she was giving information to Richard and Jackson. I had to keep my moves a secret. As I pondered over the situation, there was a knock on the door and I heard the voice of Maya, who asked me if she could come in. She brought the dinner tray and a glass of water inside. "I figured you'd rather have dinner in your room, miss." I was about to tell her that there was nothing like that and I was going to eat in the hall with the others when I saw a small note, tucked under the plate. I thanked her and asked her to leave the room. I tensed. When Owens made their strike, my men informed me as quickly as possible, somehow hiding a note in my room or in an object, someone would leave here. If they could do it unnoticed, they put the note in the food tray just before the maid would enter the room. I grabbed the note with my trembling fingers and unfolded it. "The newborn baby of the Watts family. 6:15. It's still here. Prepare." I kept holding the note in my hand, my brain trying to process the information. They took a baby. I wasn't sure who the Watts family were though. But the important here was the baby itself. We already knew that they took people in order to sold their organs. Usually they killed them within a day. Some time even in the moment of abduction. But we find out that when their clients were abroad, they didn't killed them till they reached their destination. I hoped that was the baby's case. I walked out the door and went downstairs. I was feeling restless.I had to tell my people that there was a new case and to make sure they were ready. I didn't know what Arthur meant for me to prepare. To prepare for what? Apparently the baby was still alive and had a chance. I suddenly heard loud noises and moved to the window. There were people gathering in front of the entrance. It seemed that they were arguing with two of our servants and our guards. I made my way to the hallway and I walked out cautiously. When they saw me, they immediately ran in my direction. Their faces expressed despair, hatred, anger. I could see in their eyes that if I let them get too close, they would hurt me. The guards stood in front of me in an attempt to protect me from the small crowd. A woman screamed. "You, viper, tell me where your lover took our child." I watched them incredulously, my mind tried to accept the accusations that began to fly from all directions. "You think you're going to get away with it, but we're not going to let it happen." "Show that you are human and bring our child back." Someone yelled. "You're not a human, if you could be involved in something like that." Insults flew one after another, and people became more and more angrier. If this scene was taking place in front of our house, I can only imagine what was happening in Riddle Hall. Suddenly I felt pain in my temple and heard a glass bottle shatter at the ground. I closed my eyes in pain, one of the guards pushed me into the house, as people started throwing stones and whatever they had on hands. Before the door could close completely, I could see the face of one of my men in the crowd. At that moment he nodded reassuringly and hope rose in me. They had managed to save the baby!
