Amelia POV
I tossed the documents in my hands while I was thinking about the baby and Arthur. I couldn't contact him without putting him in danger, and I needed a sign that he was fine. Dana and the children always asked me if I had any news from him. It's been almost a month since he sent the note for baby Ashton. I hoped he was ok.
That was the hardest in our mission. We both knew we won't be able to reach one another often, but It was harder, then I thought. I cared about all of my men. I cared about their families. And I was responsible for them. Arthur was my friend. If something happens to him...Not that we didn't know it was possible. In such moments I was asking myself what we have been thinking, when we started this secret mission. But he was adamant to do it. He was afraid that some time in the future, his family could fall under their radar. And he was prepared. He was one of my toughest men.
I heard a beep sound and the voice of my secretary filled the room.
"Miss Robinson, mister Robinson would like to speak to you and your sister in 10 minutes. He would wait for you in the room number 5."
"Thank you, Grace." I turned off the intercom and stood to make a coffee. If my father wanted to speak with both of us in one of the conference rooms, then It would be for something serious.
I made my coffee and five minutes later I was in room number 5.
Five minutes later my father and sister came in. They both sat facing me.
"What is it, father?" Claire stared at him with curiosity, apparently she didn't know why we were here too.
" I have something work-related to discuss with you. That's why I wanted to meet with you two in the company." He paused for a minute and stared at the documents in front of him.
"You know this company is big and It's prosperity depends on you. You're gonna take it one day and make it even more successful. But It's hard. I know you'll manage with everything, but It would be good If there is a man of the family to support you. I'm thinking to give Jackson a small share of the company. What do you think?" A gasp left Claire's mouth.
I stared at him with disbelief. A pure horror you could see on my face.
"But...why?" To say I was confused would be an understatement. Jackson never showed an ounce of interest for the business. And couldn't be more immature, even If he tried. He won't be able to do anything here.
"Jackson is like a family to us. I think he deserves something to secure his future. And I'm not young anymore. I want to be sure that there is someone, who will take care of you. Are you against the idea, Mia?" I was.
But I knew I had to carefully pick my words, because I knew how obligated my father felt towards the Owens.
"I think It's great idea, dad. I even think that I could start learning about the company's affairs. It would be great the three of us to run the company. Only family." She beammed with delight.
I thought for a minute how to manage the situation and I decided the only way was to be straight forward.
"I don't want Jackson in the company."
My father just sighed, like he expected my answer. And how could he not. He knew I didn't like Jackson at all.
"I know what you're thinking. He never worked even something slightly related to our business and he's looking a little superficial. But I'm sure that when we give him a reason, he would start making a difference. Richard told me that he has business potential. He just didn't had the opportunity to show it. Give him a chance, my girl. Everyone deserves a chance." At his last sentence I looked at him surprised. I never expected he would bring my past into this. This was bad. He really wanted Jackson here.
"I...I disagree." I stood up and walked out of the room.
