Priscilla
“DADDY!” I roar after my father hangs up on me. He won’t budge on buying me the Ferarri I dream of having. He won’t buy the Ferrari just because he bought me a Porsche. I am sitting in the living room of our home.
“Priscilla,” My mother steps into the living room. “Why are you screaming?”
“Daddy said he won’t buy me the Ferrari,” I whine. “Why is he being so stubborn?”
“Honey,” Mom sits beside me on the couch, “He just bought you that Porsche you insisted on having.”
“So?” I argue. “Cora’s dad got her a Ferrari, so I should get one. Shouldn’t the Alpha’s daughter have a better car than the Beta’s daughter?” I retort.
Mom runs her hand through my hair, “I agree, sweetheart. But you really should have waited until he got home. He is working right now,” She coos.
“But this is important, Mom,” I pull away from her.
“Do you want to go shopping with Mikayla and me?” she asks.
I shake my head, “No, I am going to go tan myself by the pool with Cora and Paisley.”
“Oh, I think Kayla was down there with Oscar,” She mentions my brother’s mate.
I roll my eyes, “Wonderful,” I hiss.
“Priscilla, you need to learn to get along with Kayla. She is your brother’s mate and the future Luna of this pack,” She explains.
“I don’t understand why my brother’s mate had to be someone like her,” I huff.
“There is nothing wrong with Kayla,” Mom counters.
“She isn’t on our level, Mom. She is practically an omega,” I laugh.
Mom shakes her head, “Priscilla, Kayla’s father, is in charge of our pack’s hospital, and her mother is one of our best warriors. They are not omegas. And even if they were, it was up to the Goddess who was mated to Caleb.”
“You just like her because she gave you a grandbaby to spoil,” I snort.
Mom laughs, “Well, that too.” She stands up, “Have fun at the pool, and remember you can’t chase the omegas out.”
I roll my eyes, “Yeah,” I fold my arms and stand up. I stomp out of the living room and head down to my room. It’s the second largest room on the floor after my parent’s room. It should have been Caleb’s room since he is the next alpha, but I threw a fit, and he let me have it.
My mother helped me decorate it with only the finest linens and décor. I had it painted soft pink and light grey, which is what is in right now. Mom is having parts of our floor remodeled, and it’s a mess with dirty construction workers and dust everywhere.
“Sorry, miss,” One of the workers nods to me.
I sneer at him and keep walking. ‘Gross,’ I think to myself.
‘You shouldn’t disregard people like that,’ My wolf, Sapphire speaks up.
She usually likes the finest things like I do. But lately, she has been on a charity kick. She pushes me to be nicer to the omegas and to quit making them do everything for me.
I enter my bedroom, peel my clothes off, and drop them on the floor. I step into my closet, which I had Daddy expand to double its size. He was hesitant but finally did it after I threw a fit. I pick out my newest bikini. It’s bright pink with white stripes, and I paid a thousand dollars for it. I put it on and covered myself with a white sarong. I put my long blonde hair in a ponytail and head out of my room. My phone vibrates, and I see a text from Cora, my best friend.
‘Are you coming to the pool? Paisley and I are waiting,’ Cora texts.
‘I’m on my way,’ I reply.
Cora and I have been best friends since we were toddlers. Her father is Beta Jordan, so he is close to my father. Sometimes I dislike her because she is so nice to everyone. Paisley, my other friend, is the head trainer's daughter, but I consider her cool enough to hang out with us.
I get down to the pool, which is behind the packhouse. It is large and even has a water slide. There are tropical plants all around it and has a swim-up bar. Daddy built it for the entire pack, but I think only ranked members should be allowed to use it. I sneer at the omegas playing volleyball.
“Priscilla,” I turn to see my brother’s mate, Kayla waving at me. She wears a dull one-piece suit while stringy brown hair hangs down her shoulders. She is holding Oscar on her hip. I don’t understand what my brother sees in her.
My nephew squeals when he sees me. I am not one for little kids, but I have developed a bond with my nephew and enjoy spending time with him.
I walk over and lightly pinch his chubby little leg. “Hi, Chubbs,” I call him by my nickname for him.
Kayla huffs and glares at me, “I wish you wouldn’t call him that.”
Oscar claps and giggles, “Auntie,” He mumbles.
“He is chubby, Kayla,” I point out. “And he likes being called Chubbs,” I grin at Oscar and make a kissy face at him, causing him to clap and laugh loudly.
“Over here, Priscilla,” Cora yells at me. She is waving the cabana.
I convinced Daddy to build the cabana just for me, but I allowed Cora and my other friends to use it. Paisley is lounging beside Cora. “I’m coming,” I shout back. I tickle Oscar, “I am going to go tan now.” I move towards the cabana and take my seat.
Kayla follows me and sits in the empty lounger with Oscar in her lap.
I eye her but say nothing. Daddy and Caleb said I had to let Kayla sit with us. An omega walks up to us and bows.
“Do you need anything right now?” He asks me.
“Lemonade,” I demand. “And the good stuff, not the cheap s**t Daddy buys for you guys,” I say while slathering myself with sunscreen.
“Luna?” The omega looks at Kayla.
“I’m fine, Leon,” Kayla smiles at me.
“Would you like me to get some cookies for little Oscar?” Leon asks her with a laugh.
Kayla shrugs, “Just a few.”
“Hurry up on the lemonade,” I grumble at him.
Leon presses his lips together and scurries away.
“Why are you so rude to the omegas?” Kayla asks the same question she always asks me.
“They are omegas,” I scoff. “Their purpose is to serve us. I know you aren’t used to it,” I look at Kayla while speaking. “You should get used to being served if you are going to be Luna.”
“I am capable of doing things for myself,” Kayla counters. “I don’t need others to wait on me hand and foot. My parents taught me how to do things for myself.”
“Lower-class people often do that,” I shrug. “When I become Luna of my alpha’s pack, I will ensure everyone knows their place.”
“If you become a Luna,” Cora speaks up. “You don’t know who your mate is yet.”
“My mate will be an alpha whether I have to choose him or not. I will not be anything less than a Luna,” I snort.
Kayla rolls her eyes but says nothing else.
Leon eventually returns with my lemonade and some cookies for Oscar. “Is that all, Miss?” He asks.
“What took so damn long? It’s just lemonade. Any i***t could make it,” I sneer and sip it.
“I’m sorry, Miss,” Leon responds.
“You are lucky it tastes okay,” I slam the glass on the table beside the lounger. “I don’t need anything else,” I sneer at him.
“Thank you for the cookies, Leon,” Kayla smiles at him. Leon nods and walks away. “I realize they are omegas, but you don’t have to be a b***h to them.”
I give her a side-eyed glance, “You are so lucky that my father and brother forced me to allow you to sit here.”
Kayla ignores me and attends to Oscar.
I look at my phone while allowing myself to tan. I want to look hot tonight at the club.
Hours later, I am back in my room admiring my tan. There is a knock on the door, and my father steps into the room. The faintest scent of sea salt and red cedar comes off him, and Sapphire starts to whimper. “Hi, Daddy,” I smile at him.
“Priscilla,” He says in his deep ‘I mean business’ voice. “I was told you were rude to the omegas again.”
“I only talked to that one by the pool. And he took too long getting my lemonade,” I explain.
“I realize that. But omegas are just as much a part of this pack as we are. They are to be treated with respect,” He looks around my room. “You should pick up your clothes instead of waiting for others to do it.”
“Daddy,” I whine as I flutter my eyelashes at him.
“Be nicer to people, alright? It makes us look bad if you are rude,” Dad explains.
“Fine, Daddy. I’ll do it for you. Now about the Ferrari-“
“Priscilla,” He growls. “Enough about the Ferrari. You are not getting a Ferrari.”
“Daddy!” I yell and stomp my foot.
“What is going on in here?” Mom steps into my room. “Eddie?” She looks at my father.
“He still won’t get me the Ferarri,” I say with tears in my eyes. “It’s not fair that Cora has one, and I don’t.”
“The matter is closed,” Dad scowls at me. “We don’t have the money to buy you a half-a-million-dollar car.”
“We are rich,” I scream. “You are being so unfair,” I cry.
“Eddie,” Mom puts a hand on his chest. “Maybe we can discuss it.”
“No, Louise,” Dad growls at her. “If she keeps pestering me for that damn Ferarri, I will sell her Porsche and buy all of the omegas brand new cars.”
“Daddy!” I screamed. “You can’t sell my Porsche.”
He pinched the bridge of his nose, “Then stop begging me for the Ferrari.”
I fold my arms, “Fine. I hope I find a mate that buys me what I want.”
“I pray your mate is patient, man,” Dad snorts and walks out of the room.
“Eddie,” Mom calls after him. “I’ll talk to him, dear. He never says no to me,” She winks and follows Dad out of the room.
I sit on the large pink leather couch in my room. It cost my father thousands of dollars, but I had to have it. I pout for a minute while looking at my i********: account. I post about how mean my father is for denying me the Ferrari. I skip dinner and snooze for a few hours on the couch. The same grey wolf appears in my dreams, and Sapphire goes nuts for him. Deep down, I have a feeling he is my mate, but unless he is a rich alpha, I won’t accept him.
After my nap, I get ready for the club. I put on a tight, red leather bodice that accentuates my breasts. I also wear a black leather mini skirt and knee-high leather boots. I tease my hair and put on some wild makeup. I text Cora and Paisley.
‘Are you guys ready to go?’ I ask them.
‘I’m ready,’ Paisley responds.
‘Me too,’ Cora replies.
‘Good, meet me downstairs,’ I tell them, drop my phone into a purse, and walk out of my room.
“Priscilla Graciela Livingston,” My father bellows.
I turn to him, “Hi, Daddy.”
“Where are you going dressed like that?!” His voice booms down the hall.
“Out,” I shrug.
“I don’t f*****g think so!” He growls.
“Eddie,” Mom appears beside him. “I told her that she could go.”
“Not dressed like that, Louise!” He yells.
“It’s a club, Eddie,” Mom argues.
“No daughter of mine is going out dressed like a god damned tramp,” Dad scowls at me. “Go put on something more appropriate.”
“Daddy, I am twenty-one years old,” I screech back.
“I don’t care!” He yells. “You live in my house, my pack, and you do as I say!”
“Eddie,” Mom raises her voice. “She is an adult!”
Dad lets our a another growl, “Louise! I don’t want my daughter dressed like that.”
I watch my parents argue for a moment and then take the opportunity to escape. I slink down the stairs and run into my brother and his best friend, Harley. I can still hear my parents arguing.
“Let me guess, you caused them to argue?” Caleb asks me with anger on his face.
“It’s not my fault,” I look at my nails.
Caleb looks me up and down, “Yeah, I am sure Dad is fine that you are going out dressed like that,” He gestures at me.
“Shut up, Caleb,” I sneer and stomp away from him.
“Princess Priscilla, always getting her way,” I hear Harley snicker.
“Tell me about it,” Caleb snarls.
I get outside and meet up with my friends. I am relieved when we reach the club and just dance and drink the night away.
Two weeks later, I woke up with another hangover. I had spent the night again at the club with Cora and Paisley. I blink at the bright sun coming through the curtains. Sapphire was in my head, pacing like an i***t. She has been acting weird for a week now. She keeps talking about our mate, and I could care less. I am looking only for the best mate. Dad met with one of his allies Deacon Sullivan who brought his son Jasper. And I made it very clear to Jasper that I was interested in him, and he seemed interested in me, especially while we were having s*x.
‘He is not your mate,’ Sapphire kept growling.
‘He will be my mate,’ I countered and pushed her into the corner of my mind.
I roll out of bed even though it's early and get myself dressed. Jasper said he was coming to take me out, so I wanted to look my best. I put on a brand new body-hugging white dress and leave my hair cascading down my shoulders.
‘Perfect,’ I say to myself as Sapphire starts to act up again. ‘What is your problem?’
‘Mate,’ She says repeatedly. ‘Mate.’
“Oh, Jasper is here,” I grin at my reflection.
‘Not Jasper,’ Sapphire snarls. ‘Real mate.’
I ignore her, grab my purse and rush out of my room. I rush past the men remodeling our suite. I remember my mother saying something about Dad going to some poor pack. The alpha is the son of some dead friend of his. My body tingled when the name Jack was mentioned. I didn’t listen to the rest of their conversation.
I step into the elevator and tap my foot impatiently, waiting for it to reach the bottom. As the doors open, the scent of sea salt and red cedar overwhelms me. A man with medium-length brown hair and brown eyes stares at me. I have to admit he is handsome even though he is wearing jeans and a denim shirt.
‘Mate!’ Sapphire yells in my head, and for a moment, all I can think about is the man in front of me.
“Jack?” Another strange man says from behind my supposed mate. I notice that Gamma Hal is there as well.
I come to my senses and glare at the one I assume to be Jack. “What the hell are you staring at?”
“Mate,” He squeaks out.
“I don’t think so,” I scoff and try to walk away, but Sapphire is making it impossible. ‘Stop it. That is not my mate.’
‘He is our mate,’ she growls.
“My name is Jack Watson,” The handsome man smiles at me, causing my heart to flutter. “I am here to fix the lights.” He says awkwardly while the other stranger laughs.
“So?” I sneer at him.
“You are my mate,” He smiles.
I snort and storm away from him while Sapphire rages in my head. Once I am out of sight of Jack, I lean against a wall while my heart pounds. “I have to reject him.”
‘No,’ Sapphire cries. ‘If you reject him, I will never forgive you.’
I look around the corner, and Jack and the others are gone, and I feel a tiny bit of longing for my mate until my phone rings. I dig it out of my purse and smile when I see the number, “Hey, Jasper,” I greet him. “I have been waiting for you to call.”
