Priscilla
“Miss,” Holly, my personal omega, whispers loudly. “Miss Priscilla,” she whispers louder, interrupting my dream.
“What?” I hiss at her. Jack’s brilliant smile fades from my mind as I look at the omega.
“You told me to wake you up,” She responds.
I groan and look at the clock, “Right,” I yawn. “Get my coffee,” I demand and sit up. Holly nods while I linger in bed for a few minutes. Finally getting up, I stumble into my bathroom and shower. The whole time Sapphire is acting like a horndog. ‘Will you stop,’ I yell at her.
‘Mate is coming for us,’ She mentions, and I shudder.
The whole night my dreams were filled with Jack and Ajax. Jack is so handsome, but he is not the one I want.
‘Yes, you do,’ Sapphire argues. ‘He is the man of your dreams.’
‘No, Jasper is the man of my dreams,’ I huff. Images of Jack fill my mind, and I snort, ‘Seriously, Sapphire.’
‘That’s all you, honey,’ She laughs. ‘I’m dreaming about Ajax.’
I ignore her and finish my shower and finish my morning routine. I wrap up my hair and saunter into the closet. I thumb through my cavernous closet, looking for something to wear. I choose a pair of black jeans and a white button-up blouse. I leave the top few buttons undone to emphasize my breasts.
Holly enters the closet, “Are you ready for me to do your hair?”
I sit at my vanity, “Yes,” I mumble as she sets my coffee on the table. “Is that a caramel macchiato?”
“Yes, Miss,” Holly responds, takes down my hair, and begins brushing it. “You are looking nice for your mate?” She grins.
“Huh?”
“Your mate,” She laughs. “I heard Luna Kayla talking all about it.”
I roll my eyes, “First, she is not the Luna yet,” I mutter. “Second, he is not my mate.”
‘Yes, he is,’ Sapphire counters.
Holly presses her lips together, “I’m sorry, Miss. I just-“
“Jasper Sullivan is my mate,” I declare, and Sapphire growls.
‘I will never accept him,’ She snarls. ‘I will only accept Jack.’
“So, the electrician is not your mat?” Holly asks with a raised eyebrow.
“No,” I snarl. “Why would I want some poor ass electrician?”
“Electricians are not poor,” Holly argues. “My uncle was an electrician who worked for humans and made good money. Enough to put my cousins through college.”
“So? That doesn’t make him rich,” I sneer. “No, I have needs that some electrician can never fill.”
Holly is biting her tongue as she finishes brushing and drying my hair. “How would you like it today?” She asks quietly.
“Put it in a nice ponytail,” I respond.
“I think Jack is very handsome,” She blurts out, and Sapphire growls.
“Well, I didn’t ask your opinion,” I snort.
Holly clamps her mouth closed and finishes my hair, “Is that okay, Miss?” She steps back so I can see myself in the mirror.
I wave her off while sipping my macchiato, “It’s fine. Send Fanny in,” I demand. Holly nods and starts to walk out of my closet, “This coffee is cold.”
“Sorry, Miss,” Holly sighed. “Would you like me to get you another one?”
“No, I don’t have time to wait for your screw up,” I snort and set the cup down.
Holly says nothing as she scurries out of the closet. Moments later, Fanny walks in with her big case.
“Good morning, Miss Priscilla,” she greets me.
I nod at her as I grab my phone and start scrolling. I see messages from Jasper and smile.
“How would you like to do my makeup this morning? Something nice for your mate?” She waggles her eyebrows. “I hear he is coming for you.”
I scoff and roll my eyes, “Does the whole goddamned pack know about him?” I yell, making Fanny flinch.
“Your father did announce him at dinner last night. So yes, we all know,” She laughs. “And Luna Kayla-“
“Kayla is not the goddamned Luna!” I scream. “You f*****g omegas are idiots.”
Fanny sniffles and looks at me, shocked.
“Just do my goddamned makeup and shut up,” I snarl. “Something nice,” I clarify.
Fanny quickly gets to work.
I message Jasper, hoping he will be here later to take me home. ‘Are you coming to get me?’ I text.
‘I don’t know,’ He responds.
‘What do you mean?’ I want to yell.
‘Things are complicated,’ He replies.
‘Jasper!’
‘I’ll see what I can do,’ He responds. ‘Bye.’
I huff and toss my phone onto the vanity as Fanny finishes my makeup, “It looks alright,” I tell her.
She frowns slightly, “Is that all you need?”
“I need some better omegas,” I snort and stand up. “You are dismissed.”
Fanny gathers her things and runs out of the closet.
I put on pair of low pearl heels and waltz out of my closet. My mother sits on my couch, waiting for me, “What?” I hiss at her.
“Don’t hiss at me, Priscilla,” She rises from the couch wearing a white pantsuit with her blonde hair in a bun. “I hear you were being rude to Fanny and Holly.”
“I wasn’t being rude,” I shrug. “They just need to know when they do something wrong.”
“You can correct them without being a b***h about it,” Mom points out and looks me up and down with a smirk.
“What?” I huff.
“Jack is going to like that outfit,” She laughs.
I roll my eyes, “I didn’t dress like this for Jack.” My phone dings, and I look to see a new message from Jasper. I smile as I respond to him.
Mom grabs my phone, “You are still talking to Jasper?”
“Mom!” I shout and try to take my phone back. “It’s none of your business.”
“I am your mother,” She screeches. “Jasper is not your mate,” she holds up my phone.
“Mom!” I scream.
“What’s going on in here?” Dad pokes his head into my room with Caleb just behind him.
“Mom took my phone,” I protest.
“She is texting Jasper,” Mom rats me out.
“MOM!”
“Priscilla,” Dad growls. “Do not scream at your mother. And Jasper is not your mate.”
I reach for my phone again, but Mom hands it to my father, “MOM!” I stomp my foot.
“Priscilla!” Dad barks at me. “Jasper Sullivan is not your mate. Jack Watson is.”
“I don’t want some poor ass electrician!” I scream.
Dad shakes his head, “You are going learn,” He says in a softer tone. “Jack should be here soon.”
I fold my arms and flop on my couch with tears in my eyes, “I don’t give a fuck.”
“Priscilla!” It’s Mom’s turn to bark at me. “Watch your language.”
“Come on, Louise,” Dad holds his arm out to her.
Caleb lingers for a moment after our parents leave. I glare at him.
“What the f**k do you want?”
He stands over me, “I know you are too much of a spoiled brat to appreciate a man like Jack. But you will regret rejecting him.”
“f**k off, Caleb. You are mated to a damn omega,” I snort.
“And?” He folds his arms. “I would rather have a million Kaylas than a Luna like you. And Jack is no omega.”
“Go away,” I whine. Caleb walks out, and I sit on the couch, pouting for a few minutes. I finally get up and slink out of my room to go downstairs for breakfast. My stomach is in knots, but I am starving.
‘You want to see him too,’ Sapphire laughs.
I ignore her as I walk into the dining hall. My family is finishing up their food as I walk in.
“Nice of you to join us,” Mom laughs.
I say nothing to her as one of the omegas walks up, “Give me an egg white omelet with a little bit of cheese and toast.”
“Yes, Miss,” The omega nods. “Anything else?”
“Coffee, black,” I demand.
“Black coffee,” Dad laughs. “Drinking like a true alpha.”
I roll my eyes, “Can I have my phone back?”
“I don’t know, Priscilla,” Dad responds.
“Daddy,” I whine. “Please?”
He looks away from me and starts talking to Caleb.
“Daddy!” I yell.
“Ask me nicely, Priscilla,” He smirks.
I scoff. The omega returns with my coffee, and I take a sip and cringe. I immediately add a bunch of sugar to it. “I can’t wait to be out of here,” I mutter.
After breakfast, I head back to my room when Sapphire starts acting up again. I see my father heading toward the front of the house with Caleb. I am compelled to follow them, but I hang back. I walk outside and see that old pickup truck. His scent of sea salt and red cedar hits me. I shudder when I see Jack greeting my father and brother. His brown eyes flash to me, and he smiles.
It takes everything I have not to smile back. Jack’s smile falters as he turns his attention to my Dad. Moments later, they walk toward me, and Jack smiles again.
“Hello, Priscilla,” He greets me in his smooth voice.
He looks hot today in a nice pair of jeans and a blue plaid shirt. I wave at him as he stops, “Hi.”
“My Mom is making turkey and all kinds of goodies for dinner tonight for your arrival,” He speaks, and I ignore him.
“Uh, huh,” I nod while looking past him.
Sapphire is going mad in my head, and I am trying to ignore her too.
“Anyways, Isaac and I should be done after lunch,” Jack finishes his speech.
“Uh, huh,” I look at the ground.
Jack touches my arm, and tingles shoot through my body, and go weak in my legs. I look into his brown eyes and feel lost for a moment. “I’ll see you later,” He grins and leans in to kiss my cheek before walking into the house with Caleb and Dad.
I touch my cheek while watching him walk away. His butt seems to be perfectly molded into those jeans, and I am practically drooling.
‘Jasper never looked that good in jeans,’ Sapphire suggests.
‘Shut up,’ I hiss at my wolf.
“Priscilla,” My thoughts are interrupted by Cora, who appears in front of me.
I jump and touch my chest, “s**t, Cora,” I yell.
She laughs, “What’s got you all worked up?”
I huff and shake my head, “Nothing.”
“It’s the electrician, huh?” Cora covers her mouth and laughs as Paisley walks up.
“What’s up, chicks?” Paisley asks.
Cora is still laughing, “Priscilla is all worked p over her mate.”
“Oh, the electrician,” Paisley responds.
“Oh my god,” I yell. “He is not my mate!”
My friends both laugh as I storm away from them.
“Priscilla,” Cora calls after me. “Calm down.” She grabs my arm.
“You are a b***h,” I sneer at her.
“I love you too,” She leans against me. “Want to go hang at the boutique?”
I shrug, “Whatever,” I mumble.
They drag me out of the packhouse, and we walk to town a few blocks away. We wander in and out of the few shops, and I buy a new pair of shoes. We then go to the salon to get pedicures.
“You should wear those to your new pack,” Paisley exclaims.
“New pack?” I snort. “I will not be there long enough for it to be my new pack.”
“What?” Cora nearly yells. “What are you saying?”
“I am not going to be some poor Luna,” I shake my head while flipping through a magazine. “No, I am going to reject Jack-“
‘No, you won’t,’ Sapphire growls in my head.
I shake my head to shove her back, “Then I will go be Jasper’s Luna. And finally, get my Ferrari.”
“You want to reject your mate just to get a Ferrari?” Paisley snorts.
“No, Paisley. I’m rejecting my mate because he’ll never be able to afford anything, let alone a Ferrari. I have needs that are beyond his means. And Jasper has the means.”
“I don’t know,” Cora shakes her head. “I think the electrician is a lot hotter than Jasper.”
“Is he?” Paisley scrunches her nose.
“Yeah,” Cora laughs. “He has a hot butt.”
I let out a growl, and my friends laugh.
“She’s jealous,” Cora giggles.
“I am not,” I snarl. “That was Sapphire.”
“Uh, huh,” Cora giggles again.
After our mani-pedis, we shop some more before heading back to the packhouse. My mother is waiting for me.
“What?”
“Where have you been?” She asks.
“You would have been able to call had you not taken my phone,” I shrug and try to walk past her.
Mom grabs my shoulder, “Priscilla!”
I huff and drop my bags, “Mom!”
“Jack is done with the lights and is ready to leave, but your father wants him to stay for lunch.”
“So?” I shrug.
“He is going to leave after lunch,” Mom responded. “I had the omegas bring your bags down to load them into Jack’s truck. Your father wants you to come to lunch.”
“Mom,” I whine. “I’m not hungry.”
“I don’t care,” She waves her hand, and a female omega appears, “Take my daughter’s bags up to her room.”
“Yes, Luna, “The omega bows and take my bags.
“Priscilla,” Mom heads towards the dining room.
I let out an annoyed sigh and followed her. I glance back at Cora and Paisley, who are trying not to laugh. “Shut up.”
“Priscilla,” Mom smacks my arm.
The scent of sea salt and red cedar makes my heart sing as I spot Jack next to my Dad. He grins at me, and I can’t help but smile back.
“Hello, Priscilla. Are you ready to come home to Hope Springs?”
