Chapter 7 Shay opened his eyes and sat up. There was more to the story, but he wasn’t ready to relive the final moments of his relationship with Dwayne. “Come on, Jasper,” he said to the hound, who’d fallen asleep with his head on Shay’s lap. “Time to get your lazy butt up and go for our good night walk.” Shay got up from the couch. Jasper looked up at him with droopy eyes, then stood, stretched, and yawned. He slipped off the sofa and stretched again. “Don’t get too excited,” Shay said as he walked to the entry hall and retrieved Jasper’s leash. Once outside, the hound seemed to be more enthused.
