Chapter 6Knowing Raven was alive and possibly still in the vicinity forced a change in my plans. I’d hoped to leave the fields to Andre’s care while Matthew and I undertook a quick trip to Teacher’s Mead. Now we agreed I should go while my mate stood guard over our homestead. He could make the trip once the harvest was in. After our physical passions were sated—which took three days—I mounted Arrow before sunup on a Thursday and began the fifty-mile trip, packing two gray homing pigeons bonded to Turtle Crick.
