  Evelyn   Morning arrived sooner than expected, as the sun's gentle rays permeated the room through a slender gap in the curtains, caressing my face. Instinctively, I sought refuge in the warmth of Jacob's neck, eliciting a playful chuckle that assured me of his wakefulness.   "So you're awake," I mumbled, my voice laden with fatigue and grogginess.   How could I possibly summon any energy when Jacob had effortlessly drained every ounce of it from me the night before?
