Evan sat still. Sebastian’s words hung in the air, waiting to be ingested. For a while he did his best to make sense of all he’d heard. He swallowed the contents of his glass and stared wide-eyed into space, nodding slowly and deliberately. “I don’t suppose there’s any way of proving all of this,” he said finally. “Don’t you feel it to be true? Isn’t that enough?” asked Sebastian with a hint of defensiveness in his voice. Evan looked into Sebastian’s eyes. A small smile played at the corners of his mouth. “I feel something,” Evan said. “I just don’t know what it is. Perhaps if you could show me something to convince me then I could believe.” Sebastian sat back against the arm of the couch.
