Chapter 13: The End Sawyer wiped the tears from his eyes. One had already landed on the paper creating a black splatter mark amidst the words and sentences. “Well,” he said, adding the final full stop. “That brings us neatly to an end.” Bergman laughed wearily. “There’s still life in this old boy yet.” “Oh no. I didn’t mean that,” Sawyer was quick to explain. “I know you didn’t.” Sawyer began gently blowing on the last page of writing. “When this is dry enough to put in my bag, I’ll get going.” He blew again. “You can get to bed and I think within a couple of minutes of arriving home, I’ll be in bed, too.” Bergman stood, walked behind the chair he’d been sitting on and rested his hands on the back.
