“Stop checking the time. You are stressing me out. Loosen up and just enjoy. Please... just have fun,” Mati says, taking Lira’s phone away from her, annoyed by how she keeps glancing at it. They have been dancing for the past two hours and Lira is tired, but Mati won’t let her go sit down. Levi and Cameron, the girls’ crushes, are now sitting by the bar eying the girls.
It’s the first time they’ve ever gotten attention from their crushes and they have tried so many times before. But the boys would already be sitting with other girls every time their paths crossed, and Mati and Noelle made sure their paths crossed a lot. Tonight they are not only alone, but looking at them, and they are not about to let Lira, who isn’t even in their league ruin it. But they will not let her go home either, because they fear she will tell Mati’s mom that Mati is not at a friend's house as she was told, but in a club.
Lira knows this and promised Mati she won’t tell, but Mati is not taking any chances. So, she’s holding her hostage in the club. Mati's trips to the back entrance with the friendly bouncer have also made her loosen up. Her usual annoyed face is now replaced by a smile. She’s been nicer to Lira in these past few hours than she’s ever been since they’ve known each other, but that isn't helping. Lira is still not happy. This isn’t her scene and the cold treatment she’s receiving from the other girls is making her feel out of place even more.

“Come, let’s get you another drink,” Mati says, dragging me towards the bar, too high or too happy to notice that I haven’t drank anything she’s given me in these past few hours. I tried a few ciders when we first arrived, but I didn’t like them and the idea of getting drunk in this place didn’t sit well with me. I feel unsafe. I said nothing and kept taking and dumping the drinks when she wasn't looking because I could see they were having fun and I didn’t want to be a party pooper, but I really miss mom right now. I shouldn’t have come here. When Mati used my name to lie, I should have known. It was a red flag and I should have heeded the warning and stayed home.
I don’t refuse and let her pull me towards the bar to get me a drink because it won’t matter if I resist, she will just speak over me until she gets her away. We stop by the bar and she asks the bartender for two drinks. Noelle joins us and orders herself a drink as well. Unlike Mati, she is as snobbish as ever now that she’s drunk, and I don’t know what is so boring and lame about me that she keeps rolling her eyes every time I say something. I don't have a net worth of millions like them, but I know I’m not boring. They are not the first people I’ve hung out with. They are just the first people I’ve gone clubbing with.
I always used to hear fun stories from the older girls in my neighborhood about their experiences in the club, and at some point, when I got here, a part of me was excited, but so far there has been nothing nice about being here.
The bartender is busy getting our drinks ready when a voice speaks to our right, calling him by name. We look in the voice's direction to be greeted by three smiling faces and I notice it’s the same guys that Mati and the girls have been eying all night. The blond one asks the bartender to put what we’re having on their tab. Mati and the girls return their smiles, blushing as they whisper, thank you. The guys get up and walk over to us, causing Noelle to let out a silent squeal, and I don’t blame her. Even as tired and uninterested as I am to be here, I can’t deny how hot they are.
“Ladies,” the blond one greets us, and the girls reply before he introduces the others. He introduces himself as Ney, and it’s only when the redhead is introduced that it finally clicks. These are the guys Mati and Noelle spent the whole ride drooling over. They were even stalking their socials when we got here, trying to find out if they were still coming or here already. The third curly-haired one is introduced as Cam, Mati’s crush.
I managed to figure out that Noelle is crushing on Levi and Mati on Cam. Mati introduces us and the guys say it’s a pleasure to meet us, just as the bartender places our drinks in front of us. She hands me mine and I take it. I don’t drink, and I almost drop it, my eyes widening when the guys invite us to a party at Levi’s house and Mati says yes.
We can’t go with them. If we go we’ll never make it back home in time. The last time I checked the time before Mati took my phone, it was 10:45 pm and that must have been about twenty minutes ago. How is she agreeing to go to a party when we only have an hour before we have to go home? I tug her arm, wanting her to look at me so I can remind her. I hate to be that girl right now and I’ve grinned and borne it the whole night because I could see they were having fun and I didn’t want to ruin it for them, but we are here because her mother trusts me. I don’t want to break that trust; I want to be back by midnight as promised. I tug her arm again, but she continues ignoring me and I take a deep breath, getting more frustrated before raising my eyes to find the ash-brown curly-haired guy who was introduced as Mati’s crush looking at me. He gives me a flirty smile and despite being uncomfortable with it, knowing Mati likes him and he should be smiling at her, I return it.
I cast my eyes downwards, unable to hold his gaze for long as his eyes start making me feel things and I catch his smile widening out of the corner of my eye. They ask us if we are ready to go now or if we would like to stay a little while, but Mati speaks before Levi’s even finished, saying we are ready, and that does it. I speak aloud, telling her I need to talk to her, now out of patience as panic washes over me. She looks taken aback by my tone and she takes my arm and pulls me aside after asking the guys to excuse us.
“What-” she starts to say, but I cut her off, telling her we can’t go with these guys.
“Stop being such a drama queen! I promised we would be home by midnight, didn’t I?” she says, and I tell her she did, but just as I try to add, she cuts me off.
“We are only going to stay for thirty minutes, I promise. Please. I really like him... you know that” she says with pleading eyes, and I open my mouth to tell her I know that, but we made a promise, but she places her index finger on my lips, shushing me. “Please, Lira,” she says and I find myself nodding, somehow feeling like even though it seems I have a choice, I don’t. Mati really wants to go to this party, and I have a feeling the bitchy Mati might come forth if I don’t agree, and I’ll end up being dragged there by hook or crook. “Thank you,” she squeals, hugging me, and I use the opportunity to ask her for my phone back. She gives it to me and I tell her we must at least be home by 1 am and she promises.
I hate this.
When we return to the rest of the guys we are met with surprising news. The girls that we picked up are not going with us. I'm surprised by that because they sounded just as excited at the possibility of hooking up with these guys on our way here. Why would they miss this opportunity that I have figured is rare?
I'm snapped out of my thoughts by Mati's hand, the guys telling us their ride is outside and I must say, these girls' sudden change of heart makes me more skeptical. Now there are three guys and three girls and that makes me feel uneasy. It makes me feel like we are consenting to something more than just going to a party at their house.
We head out after that and get into their car since our driver is driving back with the girls. I take out my phone and look at the time again and it's 11:30 pm. I put my phone away and raise my head to lock eyes with Mati's guy. I hope there are a lot of other people at this party and I hope the girls are a lot friendlier than Noelle, so I can leave them with their men and sit with other people.

We arrive at a house bigger than Mati’s house, which is also huge and beautiful. There are also several expensive-looking cars parked up front as we head inside. We are escorted into a dark-themed living room and asked to make ourselves at home.
“Are we early?” I ask noticing it's just us even though we were told we are coming to a party.
“... Early?" Levi asks confused as everyone stops and looks at me and I explain to him what I mean, but I'm shocked when he tells me it's just gonna be us.
“Don't worry, we won't bite," Cam says and winks at me when I look at him, causing me to swallow hard, the question of consent coming to my mind again.
We sit down and the living area is just as beautiful as I imagine the rest of the house to be. It is huge and the modern designed grey sofas are exquisite. Emerald green chaise lounges surround the table and they are all dressed in gold scatter cushions, complementing the dark furniture. But the sparkle exploding chandelier takes my breath away. I have never seen anything like it before. How rich are these people? Is Mati sure she wants to associate with them? I mean, I know she’s also super rich, but you can tell these people are in a league of their own.
The guys head out, telling us they will be back, and I look at Mati and Noelle, nervous as they get to their feet and start walking around, checking out the place without waiting for the guys to return, and ask them if it’s okay to snoop around. Mati picks up a remote and music comes on after she touches the screen. She and Noelle start dancing while I just sit there looking at them, still thinking about the fact that no one else is coming, and the guys enter a moment later. I hold my breath, not sure how they are going to feel about finding Mati and Noelle doing what they are doing, but they seem to find it cute.
They place the drinks they came back with on the table and Cam sits next to me, asking me if I don’t want to dance as Ney and Levi join Mati and Noelle but I shake my head, his eyes making me feel uncomfortable. I whisper a reply, telling him I’m okay before asking him to excuse me and getting to my feet. I want to get away from him. I don’t like how he’s looking at me. He should be looking at Mati that way. He gets to his feet as well, and I ask him where the bathroom is. He offers to show me but I ask him for directions and tell him I’ll find my own way there, hoping by the time I return, he will have realized that Mati is the one interested in him, not me.
He does as I asked, and I make my way down the corridor. I get inside the luxurious bathroom and just sit, not really needing to do anything. I just wanted to get away. Feeling I've set long enough, I head out again after checking the time, and just as I walk down the corridor, I hear Mati calling out to me.
“Oh, here you are,” she says with the smile I haven’t gotten used to yet, holding two glasses with something sparkly inside. “Here,” she says, handing one to me. “Thank you for being a good friend tonight,” she adds, clinking our glasses together, and I find myself returning her smile.
I didn’t want to come here and I’m not happy about breaking my promise to our parents, but she looks really happy to be here. I’m happy I let her come.
“Drink,” she says, when I don't drink and I do. “Drink it all,” she says after I take a sip and I down the glass, causing her smile to widen.
She drapes her right arm over my shoulder, and we head back inside, but I stop causing her to ask me what’s wrong, feeling a sudden rush of heat. I tell her I don’t know and she asks me to sit down. We enter the living area to find everyone dancing and Mati takes Cam's hand and dances with him. I let out a sigh of relief, smiling back at her when she smiles at me, glad my plan worked and she’s got his attention now. After dancing they play games and try to get me to participate but I don't. I'm feeling weird. They tire of the games and go back to dancing and the music comes even louder this time.
I take out my phone to check the time but I place it down again, my hand flying to my chest, feeling my heartbeat accelerate. I blink a few times, suddenly feeling woozy and just then I start getting hot. I only had one glass and it wasn't even full. I can't be drunk.
I lean back on the sofa, but the music starts sounding really nice as my body starts to relax, like I have taken a load off. Just then I hear someone speak over the music and I look up to find Mati giving me her hand. I don’t know what for, but I take it, starting to feel really good. I take off the heels and she pulls me towards the dance floor where they are dancing and before I know it, it’s not her hands I feel on my waist. I look up to find the blond guy, Ney, smiling at me.
“Oh, hey Ney,” I mutter, returning the smile and he offers me a drink. I take it and drink it and we dance together.
“So it was me you didn't want to dance with?” I hear someone say in my ear, and I turn around to find Cam.
I can see why Mati is crazy about you. You’re hot. I mentally say, to myself, disregarding what he just said, but my eyes widen when he says thank you. You are hot too. Did I say that aloud?
“No!”
“No?”
“I mean, yes. You are hot but that’s not what I meant. What I’m saying-what I want to say- Look-” I blubber with a voice that doesn’t sound like my own and we both burst out laughing.
“What are you saying?” he asks, and I tell him Mati likes him and thinks he’s hot, causing him to look over at Mati who’s now dancing with Ney before looking back at me. “I see. What do you say?” he asks, and I can’t help but smile back when he smiles. He has a beautiful contagious smile and I’m feeling very happy.
“I say you are hot too-”
“-Why do I feel like there’s a but coming?” he asks with a raised brow, amusement in his voice.
“-But not in the way she thinks.”
“Which way is that?” he asks and I look back at Mati but he places his hand under my chin and gently turns my face to look at him and I don’t know what happens, cause next his lips are on mine and even though my head immediately screams at me to pull back I don’t.
“This way?” he asks with a knowing smile after breaking the kiss and it's only then that I return to my senses. I take his hands off of me and step back, flushed before looking at Mati, wondering if she saw us to find her still dancing and not looking at us.
“I need some air,” I mutter, and he takes my hand and pulls me with. I shouldn't after what just happened but I follow him. He takes me outside and asks me if I’m okay. I tell him I am before adding that I’m really hot, feeling the familiar hot flushes again and I find my eyes traveling to the swimming pool next to us that looks really appealing right now.
“Do you wanna get in?” he asks, wrapping his arms around my waist from behind and he smells really good. I nod but gasp when he suddenly picks me up and jumps into the pool without warning. I gasp, shocked when we come in contact with the water, and he helps me up before removing my hair from my face.
“Did I hurt you?” he asks, and something about the way he’s looking at me makes me laugh. I start laughing really hard, and the more I laugh, the more confused I'm getting as to why I'm laughing, and at some point, he joins me, making me feel less weird.
“You have beautiful eyes," I mutter still laughing and he stops laughing, causing me to stop as well as the beautiful hazel eyes I just complimented start looking at me with a strong emotion.
“You are beautiful,” he says, his face inches from mine, and I find my eyes trailing down to the lips that gave me my first kiss just minutes ago, and before I know it I am leaning towards him and he meets me halfway.
I moan, not even sure how I'm this confident as I wrap my arms around his neck, his lips feeling really good on mine and my stomach does the familiar flip.
I don’t know how long we kiss each other for but I know I still don’t want him to stop when his hand slides inside my panties. I moan louder, arching my back and he pulls back from the kiss and says something but I cut him off, asking him not to stop. He unbuttons my jeans and I let him take them off, intoxicated by his lips. Everything's happening fast and it feels really good but it's also starting to get hazy. I gasp, breaking the kiss when he lifts me up and wraps my legs around his thighs, before moaning again when our lips connect again. But the moan turns into a cry when he enters me, taking my virginity with him. I grab onto his shoulders and everything starts to spin, and my lights go out.
