I spent the rest of the day in the living room with Raven, who looked unusually solemn, Gideon, who was brooding, and Astrid and Valen, who were visibly frightened. Even Aria joined us for a while, though she eventually left to meet with her newly discovered mate. I was surprised but happy to hear the news—Aria's mate was the beta of a neighboring pack. It warmed my heart to know that my little sister had found someone who was kind and loving, which was everything she had ever wished for. As she eagerly shared how smitten he was with her from the very first moment they met, I listened with a smile, finding comfort in knowing that at least my brother and sister were well cared for, even if my own future was uncertain.
