Sarina woke to the cold and reached for Brody, only to realize he wasn’t there and she wasn’t home. The events of the last twenty-four hours came back to her as her heart sank into despair. She laid a protective hand over her swollen belly, wondering if she’d even be able to deliver her twins in the comfort of family. Stiffening her spine, she refused the tears that threatened to let loose a tidal wave. She was a Traverse and a Duscene, even if she and Brody weren’t legally wed yet.
